  1. Hi all! I like it! I've been a few times now as I live nearby and I haven't had any problems with it (and I like good food!). The staff are always friendly and don't make you feel rushed and their early bird is amazing value! The only slight negative was that the last time we went we sat in the window at the back and it was a bit strange looking at Somerfield while we ate! Abbie x
  2. Hi all! The Penny Pot cafe by the station in Edale has just been taken over by the National Trust from this weekend and is open Wednesday to Sunday all through the Summer months. Homemade cakes and scones, fresh salads and sandwiches and lots of local produce. Give it a try! Abbie x
  3. Hi again! I've had a look at the classes at the college but it seems that they start them in September and they only run in the mornings. I work during the day so I can't go to those ones. Thanks for the tip Vikj - I'll see if I can find a copy. Abbie x
  4. Hi! I've just bought a house off Ecclesall Road and our neighbours are students (on the side we share the passage with) and we've not had any problems with them at all. They're not messy and the only time they're noisy is on some Fridays nights - which I can cope with! There's four of them sharing the house and they're all lovely! On the flip side - when I was a student I lived further down Ecclesall Road and it could be very noisy - particularly on a Wednesday night (but then I was often one of theones out then!) and it was sometimes messy on as Thursday morning but since it was all students in that particular area it didn't seem to cause too much trouble. 5. Hi Fancie, It was more the posh sugarcraft things I was looking to learn. I do lots of baking and do fairycakes and things similar to the ones on your website for friends birthdays and weddings and stuff, I just thought it would be nice to extend my repertoir! I'd like to know how to make the little sugar flowers and fancy sculpted icing so I don't have to always buy them or use sweets etc. I'll try the one at Manor Top though and see if they can help. Any other suggestions anyone? xx
  6. Hi everyone! I'd love to go to a cake decorating/sugarcraft class on an evening but I can't seem to find anything other than the ones run at Sheffield College. I don't really fancy going back into that type of environment as I have only just finished university and I've had enough! I'd like to go to a privately run one which has smaller classes. Does anyone know of any? Thanks, Abbie
  7. Any ideas anyone? I'm setting up 2 friends of mine and we've decided to go on a double date so its not too awkward for them as they've never met. Was thinking early evening drinks somewhere then if they get on they can go out afterwards? We live on Eccy Road side of town. What do you think? Abbie
  8. Hi! Can anyone help? Why is Sheffield United nicknamed the Blades? Abbie
  9. Oops! Thanks, i just worked that out! Oh dear - very blonde I'm afraid! x
  10. Thanks guys. Think I may have been a bit blonde on the first answer! I've had a look on the internet and have got a bit more of an idea now. I need to get my head around so I can explain it to a 9 year old! x
  11. Really? I thought it was something really tough! Thanks for that.
  12. Hello all! I wonder if anyone can help - I've found this on a birth certificate - someone whose job description is a 'steelworks stamper' - does anyone know what this would involve or what it is? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I couldn't find anything on the internet. Many thanks, Abbie
  13. Hey! I went there in August and had my very long hair cut into a bob! I had been building up my confidence for ages and they did a great job - I love it and I'm really picky! x
  14. Hello all! I wasn't sure where to post this but I need a roll of cellophane wrap (the clear plastic they use to wrap flowers and things). I'm holding a party and I want to make some little gifts for the guests but I can't find any anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas where I could try? Thanks! Abbie x
  15. Hi! Me and my friend went to labour ready (the cash today place) when we were at uni to find out what they did and to be honest - it was a bit odd. Basically they wouldn't let us sign up there and then (about 10am on a Thursday i think) as they said you had to be there at 6am (!!) and sign up to work that day only! Funnily enough we didn't find this too appealing and I went and signed up with Search Consultancy instead who found me a great job in 2 days! Hope this helps, Abbie
  16. It's yummy!! They have delicious cocktails made with fresh fruit (my favourite) and Mexican food (not tapas). Its quick tasty healthy food and I've already been twice since it opened 2 weeks ago (it was busy both times)! Bite the bullet and give it a try! x
  17. Asda home delivery is totally rubbish!! I used it a couple of times last year before I passed my driving test. I tried it once and half of the order was not there as they said that half of the products I had ordered were unavailable (even though I had asked them to provide substitutes). The second (and last) time I tried was an order of drinks and snacks for a suprise party I was arranging for my boyfriend. I had chosen a specific order time as I knew he would not be at home when it arrived. However, 2 hours after the allocated slot it had still not arrived. When I phoned the 0845 number they told me to call my local store who in turn informed me that there was no-one available from the home delivery team as they only worked mornings! It finally arrived 4 hours late with no apology and with several items missing. To add insult to injury - the delivery driver informed me that the previous delivery driver had added a note to my account relating to my appearance! I was absolutely fuming when he arrived and it made the whole party so much more stressful. Lots of running around contacting people and trying to tell them not to let me boyfriend come home. I wrote a letter to the manager of the store and to the head office and heard no reply at all! Don't even consider using it! After this I just made several trips to a different supermarket on the bus until I passed my driving test.
  18. Most of the break in's tend to happen when students leave their doors unlocked!! Lots of my friends have done it! I quite like noisy neighbours! Just join in with their party and make lots of new friends! If you want a bit of life go for eccy road - otherwise try somewhere else! Eccy Road is full of people and bars and restaurants and shops and is very easy access to the centre of town. Whichever you pick - I hope you enjoy it! xx Oooo - I almost forgot to say - I actually grew up in Leeds before I moved here for uni and I've found Sheffield to be much more friendly and it seems to have more of a community feel. Give it a try! x
  19. You need to live on Ecclesall Road!! I love it! Came here to go to uni and stuck around - most people do. I tried livng in other places nearby but always come back to Ecclesall Road! It's not the cheapest but its great! xx
  20. Go for Spa 1877 on West Street. My friend went at the weekend and said it was absolutely amazing! You can relax and have lunch/drink there too. Good luck with your baby! xx
  21. Staying in and having a party is the new staying in with a TV guide!! These parties are so much fun you'll wonder why you didn't hold one sooner!! xxx
  22. Hello!! If anyone is looking for ideas for a party with a difference then let me know! I am a consultant for the Body Shop at Home and would like to offer you the opportunity to hold a party! It's a great idea for any kind of party. I come to your house (or church or pub or community group or wherever) and bring lots of gorgeous Body Shop products with me. I can perform facials, hand massage or make over's depending on what you fancy. I'll bring everything I need with me. We can play games - either with a Christmas theme or not - the whole party is tailored to your specific needs! After I have demonstrated the fabulous products, you and your guests will have the opportunity to buy the products you like. The ultimate in totally stress-free Christmas shopping! This is a great option for any party - school mum's can get together and leave the dads/grandparents in charge for a night or I can do afternoons! Church groups can hold one after Sunday service. 24. Hi I love tapas - total favourite and I've been in La Vina a few times but purely because I live so close. The first time I went the service was very poor and the food ok but nothing special. As I say, I did go back because we decided to give it another go, assuming they were having a bad day and it had not been open long. However, on subsequent visits the service has been absolutely dire! We were shown to a table then left without menus or drinks for 20 minutes before I went to the bar and asked to be served. It was really quiet, during the day and there was plenty of staff. When we finally got our food it was, as I said, ok but definatley not worth it. Oh, and it doesn't seem to matter how you dress, I've been in casual or dolled up and so have my friends and it makes no difference whatsoever!! Really wouldn't recommend it unless you have a lot of time. We even tried sitting by the bar to eat once and were totally ignored by the barman until we got up and asked him - also - he tried to charge 2 different prices for the same round of drinks!! Hope this helps anyone who was intending to go not to!!! Abbie
