  1. Tribfest in Beverly is good, cheap, and not too far to travel. It's only got a 5,000 capacity so won't be as daunting trying to get the kids through big crowds.
  2. Does anyone know of anywhere in SHeffield or Rotherham that does Zumba classes? A friend of mine in Amerca was telling me about it a few months ago, and after watching it on Youtube I thought it looked ace. I bought a DVD a while back, but never use it, so wanted to find a class instead but it's proving difficult!
  3. Ooops! I meant the number of confirmed deaths from Pig Cold went from 20 to 7, so the other 13 are still dead, but died of something other than Pig Cold
  4. Suspected is alot different to confirmed. Especially when the confirmed deaths in Mexico has gone down to 7 from 20 when they retested the dead. I don't know why people are panicking, especially when symptoms are only "mild". Normal flu sounds worse!
  5. What I don't understand is how she doesn't have time to cook, yet she has time to go to McDonalds, order food, wait for it, then get it home. And if she takes her kids there and eats in, she has to get all 3 ready and then get there. Judging by where my nearest McDonalds is (15 minutes drive away) she could easily cook something from scratch. Lazy cow.
  6. I'm really craving pork now. I'm going to have to have some for my tea. As for this Swine Flu, I'm not scared. I'm glad I don't have any holidays overseas booked though, everytime I go on an aeroplane, the air pressure does something to sinuses which means I have flu like symptoms during the entire flight, I daren't think about going on a plane now incase they bung me into Quarantine thinking i've got it!
  7. I use both. Apparently, when I was younger, my dad used to make me write with my right hand instead of left, because it was 'odd' to be left handed (i think my dad was the odd one!) so can't use my left hand at all for writing. I kick a ball with my left foot, playing any sports like cricket/rounders/badminton/tennis, I hold the bat/raquet in my left hand, but I throw a ball with my right hand. I also could never work out why I couldn't use potato peelers, until someone pointed out last year that it was because I was using it in my left hand, and it was made for righties.
  8. But nothing did get done about it, other than her being grounded. So the video is completely pointless. Kids get away with EVERYTHING these days, regardless of video evidence or not. I'd rather have someone stop my dog being kicked repeatedly and the parents sort the kid out, than someone film it, and do nothing at the time. How much will that have traumatised the dog? it'll certainly be more scared of large girls now. My dog gets traumatised if I don't put his weetabix in the right place in a morning, let alone being kicked around and looking at how that dog just let her do it, makes me think its probably just as sensitive/daft as mine! And as people said, if the dog had bitten her back, that dog would've been put down, but apart from a 'Grounding' (which probably won't make any difference because the fact she's so fat and does that to a dog, she's probably got to mates to go out with anyway). Also, touching on the point of the video showing just how cruel she was, even 10 seconds shows enough, to then stop and help the dog.
  9. It said it was a neighbour who had witnessed previous abuse. As I said, if it was me, I'd have taken the dog, hope it had a collar with the owners number, and phone to say I had their dog as I saw the child walking it kick the dog. My own dog is placid like that, and would let anyone do anything to him, and I'd like to think that if one of our foster kids took him for a walk and someone saw them abuse the dog, that they'd do the same thing. Not stand and film it for a few minutes.
  10. Hi All after buying claw trimmers to do my guinea pigs claws, I've found them harder to use, so am not going to use them anymore - does anyone need any? I've also got a brush that we bought but don't like either, the brush is a cushioned massaging type, and only ever been used twice. If anyone needs/wants them, drop me a PM and I'll send them in the post. Seems a shame for them to just go in the bin
  11. As a lifelong Liverpool supporter, this day always upsets me as my dad was meant to go to this game but last minute plans changed things. I was only 5 at the time, but I still remember it vividly and even seeing small bits on TV this morning have had me in tears. RIP to the 96, and their family & friends will be in my thoughts and prayers today especially xxxx
  12. When the weather is nice I tend to walk to and from work. I can't drive so a bus to take me the 3 miles to work takes 45 minutes (it goes round the loooong way). If I walk, I can be there in the same time, as I just cut across the fields.
  13. Hi I don't know you, but I read this thread and I really feel for you. Some people are just scum. I'll donate some money towards the end of the week if you still need any.
  14. We always shop online with Tesco and think they're brill. We usually do out shop on a Thursda or Friday after work and get it delivered on a Saturday morning. We didn't realise until yesterday that the slots will probably be booked up due to the weather and more people shopping online so ours is being delivered on Sunday afternoon as that's all we had left. I'll openly admit its our fault we won't get it til then, there's no point moaning about it though! Until then we'll just go and get bits from the local shop!
  15. That's what mine does! Or we pack them loosely, throw them in the air and he loves to try and catch them in his mouth. He loves playing with kids, there was a group of young lads having a massive snowball fight, and the dog joined in - in the end he was playing Piggy in the Middle trying to catch all the snowballs, and I think the kids fell in love with him too! He's not normal at the best of times, today just confirmed it for me!
  16. This is mine. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y43/ferrettpecker/Dog-1.jpg we had a good hour playing with snowballs. He got involved in a snowball fight with some kids at the ponds too, think they all loved it and tired each other out!
  17. Sorry to hear about this. I was bullied through school by 3 girls. 2 of them had been my best friends since we were at nursery school, a new girl turned up, took a dislike to me and tried to steal my place in my netball team! but because she couldn't (I was WAY too good!) she decided to turn as many people against me as she could, including the 2 girls i'd known for years. Sadly, most bullying comes down to jealousy, so obviously your daughter has something going for her that they want, so tell her that and try to make her see its something to be proud of! Luckily I had another close group of friends, so I never felt like I was alone, but the bullying was awful and school just tried to brush it under the carpet so it never got resolved regardless of how many times my parents went to school and spoke to the parents, School said "Bullying didn't happen" and the parents are snobs and said "our darling daughters Don't bully". I decided to move onto a completely different college to everyone else, and started working overseas and never saw them again, until one year when I was a Rep, the 3 of them went on holiday together and ended up staying in my hotel. I took great pleasure in telling them to "Eff Off ;)" when they came for help because of various problems with their accommodation. I also made a point of telling every one of my guests about how the girls in that room had made my life hell by years of constant bullying so no one spoke to them and didn't have anything to do with them around the pool or on excursions. Some people may say it's childish, but I believe in Karma, and they deserved everything they got. I know it's not much use to you now, but i'm sure that some point in the future, your daughter will get the same chance as me to get them back and she'll look back on it and see how pathetic they are.
  18. Me and my mum had been sharing a pair of GHDs for almost 4 years (after mine died and I couldn't afford a new pair). Mums died before Xmas so we sent them back for repair, happy to pay for it. 2 Weeks later I got a call saying they didn't have parts for the Mark 3 model anymore and couldn't replace them as we were well out of warranty, so could only offer us a discount on a new pair of Mark 4, we did this, paid £90 and they arrived 2 days later. A week later, a parcel came for me, which I thought was something else I'd ordered online. When I opened the box, there was a brand new pair of Mark 3 straightners in there and a letter saying they were a replacement pair so now we've both got a brand new pair for £45 each which i'm happy about. So if yours break, send them back. If they call offering and say the same thing, either buy a discounted pair, and if a replacement comes, send the new ones back for a refund, or just ask if you can sit on it a week until 'payday' or something, and see if a new free pair comes for you
  19. Aaaaaw. How cute! My dog has presents to open. Last year he opened my sisters too cos she was taking so long. This year, I wrapped his ball up, he took it off me and opened it straight away!
  20. I think I've just fallen in love with the 2nd one. I'm a sucker for Border Collies. I need to win the lottery tonight so I can buy a house with plenty of land and have loads of them!
  21. I'm with Orange and can't fault them. When i first took out my contract, I didn't pay for the Insurance, lost my phone and had to pay £100 for a replacement, which is fair enough, I agreed to that in the small print when i signed up - after that, I took out Orange Care. I think it's £6 a month, but well worth it. I upgraded to the Nokia N95 and had so many problems, I ended up having 9 replacement handsets in 6 weeks. All of them were delivered the next day (and In one instance at 9pm on a Sunday evening!) and eventually they let me change to a completely different handset because of all the problems. I've also had 3 new batteries from them, which again, came the next day - so I'm definately glad I've got Orange care. They've never questioned anything i've said. - they just send it out. It helps being really nice to them. To start with i kicked off, realised I wasn't getting anywhere so rang again, spoke to someone different and was nice, and got what I wanted.
  22. I do the same! I ask mine if he wants to go play with the ducks and he gets majorly excited ! I agree with it all being about Body Language though. I understand my dogs perfectly (especially when out walking) he stops and looks at me where the gate is to the fields with Horses (I like to stop and talk to them too!) and at certain points on the walk he'll look at me as if to say "pleeeease can we go this way because it will make the walk longer and I'm not ready to go home!" I guess because I spend soo much time with my dog, and talking to him that we have a better understanding of each other. We've always had Border Collies and know they're intelligent and need stimulation etc, so always trained them right from the very start and made sure we praised them lots. I think Knowing enough about the breed of dog before you get it is so important so you know what you're getting into, and how they behave/need training etc.
