  1. To save money I'm looking to source my own 'new' car tyres. Any suggestions for a garage I can take them to for fitting and cost?
  2. Hi, I work on the resource team with Plusnet and from reading some of the comments in the thread I can appreciate the concern shown about the response turnaround times for applicants. At the moment we're going through a large recruitment process which is involving the contact and processing of many people from initial applications to phone interviews and assessment days. On top of this, the number of new agents we're looking to hire has changed for the better and is being adapted on an ongoing basis. This is to ensure we're in the best position going forward to handle the company's continued growth as well as dealing with internal promotions which are also on the increase. Following on from the reference about the BT Tower closure, it is correct that we've had some applicants from the closure of the BT office but this has had no affect for other applicants as everyone is asked to go through our application process. As you can imagine from what’s been mentioned above, the recruitment team are going through a very busy period and although some people have to wait longer than expected for their replies I can assure you that responses will be sent to successful and unsuccessful candidates as soon as possible. I hope this helps alleviate some of the concerns shown and if you've been for assessment day and currently affected by the above issues please contact us via the contact details in your letters/e-mails and we will see what we can find out for you.
  3. At the moment BT are looking for areas to invest in for the upcoming 'Super Fast' Broadband in the UK. I've checked their site and Sheffield has a grand total of 40 votes out of a total of 25,153 done so far. If you want to have the chance of better broadband speeds asap rather than waiting longer than needed get yourself on to this site and vote: http://www.racetoinfinity.bt.com/ P.s. I'm not on commision, I just want better speeds
  4. At work today we've been discussing whether Sheffield is classed as being in the North or in the Midlands. Does anyone know of a way we can see officially which on it is? Also, what do you think it is?
  5. The pricing is ridiculous just like the extra 20 the government placed an extra levy of 2p on a litre of petrol when the VAT price went down to 15% and never took that back off when it returned to 17.5%. Ever feel like you're being taken for a fool?
  6. Not sure Sheffield should be affected.....I receive job alerts from some job agencies and only received notification of jobs available in the Sheffield Fujitsu office yesterday. May think twice about applying now though
  7. Thats what i'm used to when i've rented from other companies but not this time. They wanted the £750 and even if my girlfriend had her credit card with her we couldn't have used it because it has to be in my name.
  8. Has anybody else had issues with Thrifty Car Rental in Sheffield? I went to hire a Van out for 1 day at £36 and when I arrived to collect it they also wanted £750 to cover excess for the insurance. After laughing for a second I realised they were serious. The staff there were completely unhelpful too. They had a computer within 2 metres of us that had internet access, i asked to borrow this to access my bank account and they bluntly said 'no'. Even better, they said the money would be refunded to me on the same day that the van is returned (tomorrow) and the possibility of being charged the overdraft fee's by the bank would be acceptable. As a company they appear to be very unflexible and unrealistic expecting people to bear overdraft fees to hire their vans. Feel better now i've had a rant
  9. I wouldn't suggest the company. The call centre use to be T-Mobile but a lot has changed since then and job satisfaction didn't survive the changes. If you don't min living life as another number on there books then go for it. Or, if you value your sanity.....steer clear!
  10. Nice one Kel83, thanks for clearing that one up. I have seen some of the horror stories regarding the scarring. A lot appear to have been done while people have been on holiday.
  11. I am one of those people that has talked about getting a tattoo but always chicken out at the last moment. Now I have heard about Henna tattoo's and I would like to have one across my back. Does anyone know where I can go in Sheffield? And roughly how much I would be looking at paying?
  12. If you fancy getting a complete bargain and not too bothered about choice....B&Q keep having sales on some doors....£1 a door in some cases.
  13. There are some good rooms at the Sheffield Wednesday ground, decent rates and good setting, paring on site, easy to get to and will make a good impression if it is for a business meeting.
  14. If thinner people are so concerned about being sat next to a larger person then why don't they travel club??? And I believe that some of you may be misunderstanding my concerns about this thread. I haven't said anything about the actual subject. I am expressing concerns about the comments made about larger people, as I said before, labeling an overweight person as 'that fattie' and one of the responses saying that 'fat people should be taken to the city borders and stoned' is not acceptable. If you have a kid at school who was slightly bigger than the others they will be called 'fattie' amongst other things from bullies, these comments are unacceptable at school from kids. Why is it now acceptable for adults on a public forum to start making such comments? especially when kids can read the words too and follow this as an example. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a constructive discussion like 80% of the people posting have kept to.
