  1. I played with Heeley Amateurs 1976/7ish, used to run from Tramways on London Road and played home games at Dinnington Miners Welfare, 3 men and a dog was our usual gate. I think the second team played at Killamarsh Miners Welfare.
  2. I was at Firshill 1957 -63, like Ray French, then went on to Hinde House. I remember being taken to the Northern General in Mr Robinsons bubble car after breaking my wrist falling over playing football in the school yard. I think I would have had a claim these days.
  3. Thanks everyone, it's been picked up by a homeless charity, thanks for your input.
  4. I have cooked a sausage casserole (rather spicey on request) for our clubs football team, game has been postponed. Any suggestions, please leave out the sausage inuendos, will feed around 20 people. It will be a shame to bin it.
  5. Sorry for the delay, no relation I'm afraid, may be a different spelling, I'm a Hindmarch. ---------- Post added 27-11-2014 at 13:01 ---------- Yes beloved cousin I was the poor mite you crammed into the dumb waiter, much to your amusement, but I was always destined to go up in the world, sadly that was my summit.
  6. I concur with Mr Rawson over the date, I know all the names bar one, No Reynolds I'm afraid.
  7. I play snooker every Friday (not with the team) with a few good lads, if you want to play snooker it will be a laugh. Depending on how many turn up we can play doubles if you like, leave more time for drinking our incredibly cheap beer.
  8. It's the Legion of course, the two scraps should have given it away. We'd love to accept the challenge (don't give a toss about the snooker, just an excuse for a gargle) better make it a Friday night or Billy won't be there, he's in bed by 8 the rest of the week. You could play our snooker team if you like, they've been second bottom of the bottom league since the teams conception, just ahead of Hillsborough and Hillsboroughs captain has only won one game in over 200, guess who against! Last seasons highest break was 7 away. Bring it on, lol.
  9. I did read about the death, very sad for Dave and Alan and family. I've managed to find myself a new local, and its got a snooker room upstairs. Last Friday you would have found myself, Billy, Rowley, Frankie Law, Bob Sergeant and of all people Tony Armitage in there. Its like the Shoe revisited, without the brawling. The only two fights my new local were involved in were 1914-18 and 1939-45, mind you they won 'em both.
  10. Biting my nails for the last 25 minutes, I had a tenner on 4-1. Hows it hanging Fred, hope you're all well. You're right about the great times in a great pub, sadly missed..........but not by my missus.
  11. I'm going away with all three of them this weekend, golf weekend in Newcastle where we may sample a glass or two of the local amber nectar. None of the other three are still playing but all four of us look like we're carrying a spare football in our jumpers.
  12. The Hindmarch family were my Grandparents, Nicholson and Mary, along with my father Robert. They moved to Sheffield in the 30's from Gateshead in search of work, Nicholson worked for English Steel. They lived in the same yard as the Wilsons, a Jamaican family. I went to Firs Hill School with Joseph and Bernard during the late fifties to early sixties. Nicholson and Mary eventually returned to the northeast where they passed away some years ago. Dad, Robert, is alive and well and living in Thorpe Hesley with Mum, now both in their eighties.
  13. Yes and no, Still playing but not yet 60, although I use the term "playing" loosely. More pointing than running these days, a bit like Westy.
  14. I'll put me winnings from England winning the world cup on, lol. No wonder I had to carry you on the pitch.
