  1. I was wondering if there's anywhere in Sheffield you can sell things as a one off, I'd like to sell some books and CD's. The only thing I've seen is a Book sale in Sheffield university student union. Anyone know anything>?
  2. Which are the best and worst acts at the Last Laugh Comedy Club? I'm mainly interested in resident acts or people who will be likely to be on again Thanks
  3. Definately a late closing time. There's pretty much nowhere you can go after 5pm without being forced to drink and listen to annoying music. Apparently in the U.S.A they have a lot more opportunities for late night coffee. It's be amazing if it was open till 10 or 11. Has Utopia actually shut I thought it was being refurbished Cafe # 9 is the best cafe in Sheffield, except for its slightly out of the way location (unless you live there) and limited size. But the coffee is top drawer
  4. The most important things for me are Good coffee, be able to buy a cafitierre. Different selections, Columbian, Java, French, Italian, which Utopia do. Comfortable seating. Many cafes and tea rooms have uncomfortable seating, either hard metal seats like coffee revolution or hard wooden seats like in many tea rooms. Utopia has hard uncomfortbale plastic seats which look bright and stylish but they are rubbish for sitting on very long. However, I don't think deep sofas are a great idea either because you fall back into them and can't reach your coffee without hauling yourself out of the depths. Try and have a good selection of different seats and try and make them comfortable! Music is always too loud, its not so bad for having a conversation but it's impossible to read. If you don't like the music and its very quiet you can deal with it. Possibly have one room or space where its medium loud and one where it's not on at all or quiet. Usually I move around in a futile attempt to avoid speakers
  5. Anyone interested in joining in 5-a-side football? We are setting up a regular game starting tomorrow (Wednesday) 8-9pm at Goodwin Sports Centre near University of Sheffield. We still need a couple of players to make up the numbers and who are interested in playing every week. It is more for fun than anything so it doesn't matter how good you are PM me Matt K
  6. I was in a taxi near birmingham on saturday night and there was a very intense almost raucous radio debate between an england and a scotland fan. It was quite hard to believe it wasn't being moderated because it was very on edge. Both were accusing the other of being generally immoral and uncivilised and even though I'm english I couldn't sympathise really with either side
  7. I'm up for playing next week, I haven't played for about a year but want to get playing again Matt K
  8. i thought the food was quite nice and reasonably priced, and i suppose thats probably the main thing, at least it isn't really pretentious and overpriced which is always the greatest risk i think. i wasn't massively impressed by the place or the decor or anything, and they were playing really annoying music through the speaker above our table. i did not like the music at all, it was just like you'd have in a bar packed full of people downing shots, and that just makes no sense. they turned it down when we asked though so you can't complain too much about it basically though, i won't go again because it's not particularly nice. but its not a hell hole so you know 5/10
  9. oh yes, that makes me so happy, i could cry with happiness. i just love tesco so much, all i want to do in my life is walk around it because it is so beautiful.
  10. Does anyone know anywhere preferably near the centre that will be showing this tonight? cheers
  11. the rivelin valley and the rivelin hotel folk music in traditional pubs: fagans, dog and partridge, kelham island tavern, amongst others, but fagans on broad lane is the king of all.
  12. I'm interested in playing if you still need people Matt
  13. Does anybody know a pub in Sheffield that will be showing Arsenal vs PSV on Wed (7th March). I don't know if there will be anywhere as it's on Sky Sports 2 and Man Utd are on Sky Sports 1. It's interesting to see if anyone in Sheffield supports Arsenal as well because I think there was one other person in the pub with me watching the sorry exit to Blackburn last week. Cheers
