  1. I in the past have taken the same steroids for ulcerative colitis. I put on extra weight. The moon face and what they call lemon shaped body are classic symptoms of steroids and its usually due to water retention. They can also increase your appetite and give you increased thirst. Long term use can cause diabetes but this usually goes when you stop taking them. As others have mentioned osteoporosis is also a risk. However, most symptoms go when you stop taking them and your doctor will know the risks involved and have tailered the dose to minimise this. You should never just stop steroids without the doctors advice as abruptly stopping them can cause problems. Hope this helps.
  2. My Mum Vicky Thompson (before she was married) went to St Mary's school and so did her brother Russell and sister Joy. They lived at 90 Fir Street, Walkley. I went there for a while and then moved to Bole Hill first School. My aunty Gail Thompson also went there, we are both thirty now though, so you do the maths. Happy days.
  3. Yeah I've been seeing my dad every week for a couple of months now and all is well. I have also met my brother Kyle Chinn, Uncle Tommy and wife Kim, Nanna Rita, Uncle Albert and cousins. Went to the Scarborough in Upperthorpe last Sunday for a beer so I will probably see you about. Thanks for the post. Marie
  4. Hello Warren My grandad was the Tommy you spoke about I think. His wife is Rita Chinn and she had two sons Tommy Chinn the eldest and David Chinn the youngest who is my dad. Him and my mum split up when I was about 9 and I last saw him when I was 21. Am trying to see him again but its not going to well. Do you live in Sheffield? I live in Doncaster now and have since I was 12 and I'm now 29 but still miss Sheffield. I go there to see my auntie now and again and it still feels like home. I've just made contact through the forum with my cousin Michelle who is Tommy Chinns daughter and we keep in touch via e-mail. Hoping to come to Sheffield to meet her soon. I guess if your grandad was my grandad's brother we are cousins (have I worked that out right?). When you have spoke to your dad let me know. Pm me. Cheers Marie

  8. My mum lives in Doncaster and remarried my Dad now (confusing isnt it) but David Chinn is my proper dad. He did like fishing when I was younger cos I used to go with him. I was 8 or 9 when they split up so I only knew my dad, Tommy and my grandparents Tommy and Rita. Who is the Albert and young John you mentioned am I related to them? Cheers Marie.
