What about the road markings 20 yards in front of the collision then that confirm the white car remained in it's lane. Are they irrespective too?

When two parties are telling two different insurance companies that they both manoeuvred correctly I can't see how footage of the incident wouldn't be useful. A dashcam in either car in the OP incident would certainly have informed their insurance company whether they followed the road markings correctly or not.

Yes, I see that lane 1 splits into three. These three lanes take you in the direction of the M1. But the issue with this approach is lane 2 markings. Lane 2, also labelled M1 on approach, takes you on to the roundabout. You cannot go towards the M1 from Lane 2 without changing lanes - despite it being marked M1 on approach. This is a different approach to the one shown in the google street view.

I think Warpig is pointing out that the centre lane on approach is marked M1, but that lane guides you onto the A61S and away from the M1 when you actually enter the roundabout. If you needed the M1 and took the centre lane approach you would need to change lanes into the path of traffic that took the left hand lane approach and slow down to do so, impeding the flow of traffic behind that wants the A61S exit.

I've just accepted that I'm right, that there's no cure for stupid, some people aren't for turning regardless of the evidence laid before them and I've moved on. I've also decided to get a dash cam - i think this thread proves their worth.

Google street view shows a foreign wagon taking the same approach in the middle lane and managing to do so correctly. I think it's safe to assume that the driver isn't from around here and that English probably isn't his/her native language and that they were going the wrong way around a roundabout compared with their native Europe. The signage is sufficient enough to cover this, which makes me wonder how some people can't see that the driver of the black vehicle got it wrong.

The markings do not apply to traffic from Sheffield Road, as confirmed by the markings on entry and confirmed by the markings under the viaduct and confirmed by the member that posted videos of them correctly traversing the roundabout in both lanes.

The road markings are clearer. There's only one vehicle that didn't follow them - the black one. There's been as much posted as is possible to show that you are incorrect. Videos, images, road markings and their locations, logic etc. A ton of metal can do a lot of damage in the wrong hands - I pray the people who still maintain that the black car acted appropriately are doing so through bravado and fear of appearing weak by changing their opinions on a public forum.

I'd prefer to call it 25 pages of education. I'd rather people learn how to use the roundabout and the road markings than cause accidents.

What's the chances of all the following being true? The lorry did it wrong. The council wasted paint and wrote Rotherham under the viaduct even though you can't possibly get to it from the approach marked Rotherham. The traffic in the videos posted all gets it wrong by going straight on in the left lane. I got it wrong when I went on the same approach yesterday and although I turned down the viaduct I appeared to have the option to go straight on. The white car followed the markings and got it wrong. Or could it be you not understanding the markings and how to apply them all while waving driving qualifications around to convince people of your incorrect argument and incorrectly applying rule 131 of the highway code? I know which side of the fence I'm on.

I was referring on the markings on the roundabout itself, which is the ones most people seem to be taking issue with and why people are suggesting that the white car should have turned onto the viaduct. I will concede that you have a 50/50 on Bawtry road until 50 yards before the entrance to the roundabout. It doesn't really affect the incident in question, but even so, if you get the 50/50 wrong you are in the inside lane and have the option of going all the way around the roundabout or following normal safety process for changing lane on the roundabout. Yes, it's poor but it shouldn't be an accident causer.

There's nothing wrong with the road markings. Thousands of cars traverse the roundabout correctly everyday without incident. The markings people are referring to are for the benefit of people entering the roundabout at a previous junction where both left and centre lanes can access the viaduct. Anyone who wants to apportion any blame to the driver of the white car is entitled to their wrong opinion - just avoid using that roundabout eh?

I don't see why people are having such difficulty with this. There are 3 lanes marked at the entry to the roundabout and there are 3 lanes going under the viaduct with corresponding destinations. As you would expect given the road markings on the entry to the roundabout. The markings in between the entry point and the point where you go under the viaduct are for the benefit of vehicles arriving from Shepcote lane and beyond. All 3 lanes at this entry point have the right to go under the viaduct - including the lane the white car was in and remained in. The black car begins in a lane for the Bawtry/M1S exit and ends in a lane for the Rotherham exit. The white car begins in a lane for the Rotherham exit and ends in a lane for the Rotherham exit. Why is it so difficult for some people to see how this accident occurred and that blame lies entirely with the driver of the black car?

I'm worried that I share the roads with some of you. The videos posted earlier show the roundabout being used correctly from both vehicles perspectives. The white car starts in the lane marked for Rotherham and has a collision in the lane marked for Rotherham. Meanwhile, the black car starts in a lane marked for M1S / Bawtry and has a collision in a lane marked for Rotherham. You need to overlook the lanes guiding traffic from prior junctions off of the roundabout and realise that the three lanes under the viaduct are a continuation of the lanes where the vehicles entered the roundabout and are marked as such.

To be honest, your request is quite vague, although you may not realise it. It's similar to saying I'd like a one to one tutorial on cars - could mean how to drive one, how to maintain and repair, rules of the road etc Wordpress can do many wonderful things. There's also plenty of things I've seen it used for when a different solution would be better. Your plans may fall into this category and so deciding on Wordpress from the word go may be foolish. While you may not want to give your life story, a snippet of what you hope to achieve might assist in getting someone suitable - in my opinion 'teach me wordpress' is too generic of a request. Are you looking to learn the very basics - how to download and install wordpress? Maybe something a bit more challenging - how to install and customise a theme or plugin? Perhaps something advanced - developing custom plugins for your site? Possibly some extra curricular stuff - do people need to find your site? if so how to get it ranking well in searches? What if things go wrong - will you need to learn how to back up and restore your site? Hopefully there's a bit of food for thought there and drilling down a bit more will help.

I enter this stretch of road at the junction of Wordsworth Avenue; https://goo.gl/T7zIzr There has never been, to my knowledge, a sign to indicate the change to 40mph - just local knowledge. As of today, there is nothing at this junction to indicate that the speed limit has changed. The attached link is from September last year. I know the counter argument is that people shouldn't be relying on local knowledge - but people are creatures of habit and with no identifiable change at the entry point of the road people will carry on as they always did. Because of the hill and the oncoming traffic it's not unusual to get the revs up as you pull away out of this junction and there's a fair bit going on there to notice that the first 40 repeater sign has gone. This thread is a good heads up to anyone that might approach this road from a junction.

I used JH Rees and son when purchasing a property last year. The mortgage appointed surveyor stated that the house was very damp so I wanted to know how much it would cost to put right before proceeding with the purchase. I forwarded the survey report to them and asked them to double check, which they did and reported that the property wasn't damp at all and that the surveyor's equipment was probably faulty or poorly calibrated. My belief that he wasn't sure so gave a worst case scenario to cover his own back.
