  1. This is a *really* fun game: https://toppletrump.com/ "We're living in dangerous times. With the US presidential election looming, the orange-skinned, crazily-coiffured billionaire Donald Trump is drawing ever closer to the White House. Can you stop him?"
  2. Thanks ubermaus - glad you enjoyed it!
  3. If you're a fan of Inbetweeners-style humour and not averse to a bit of crude language, you MIGHT like this sitcom me and my mate threw together. Pilot episode is on Youtube: It was filmed around Leeds/Halifax/Huddersfield, but I'm from Sheffield so a lot of blood, sweat and Sheffield steel went into it.
  4. Google is only getting me so far. Here it is: http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h480/deathnbreakfast/Photo09-10-2014152240.jpg Any help would be massively appreciated!
  5. So I think my external HDD drive with 1TB of data on it has died. :-( It was working fine, but then today I turned it on and instead of the blue light coming on, it stayed red, and it just flashes blue regularly. Windows just asks if I want to format the drive. I've tried switching the power cable for another; ditto USB - no difference. It's a Toshiba px1396u-3t01 if that helps. Is there any way I can crack it open and connect it to my PC to see? Do I need a bunch of cables/adaptors for that? Or have I simply lost everything?
  6. A nice meal rather than just a bite to eat. Thanks. Is Browns where Ha Ha Bar used to be?
  7. Popping back to Sheffield today - haven't lived there for over a year, and heading out in town with my parents. Anyone recommend anywhere nice for lunch? (Doesn't have to be roast dinners...)
  8. Thanks everyone - apologies for not getting back to you. Managed to disconnect the battery in the end. We're still without upstairs lighting, but at least we managed to shut it down!
  9. Still no luck. It's been sounding off for hours now. Landlady uncommunicative. Offending lightbulbs removed. Cannot for the life of me find where the upstairs lighting fuse is/was, but it's certainly not in the main box (which we've reset several times.) Located the main burglar alarm box in the loft. Have removed the front panel but don't know what to do next. Can I disconnect the battery? Do I need to turn power off at the mains first? Will disconnecting the battery even stop the alarm?
  10. Last night, just before going to bed, I turned on the upstairs hall light and it blew, tripping out the upstairs lighting. An hour later, the burglar alarm went off. We tried for 15 minutes to stop it, but nothing we tried work. (It's a rented property and we've only just moved in.) Finally it stopped of its own accord. We needed sleep so went to bed. At 6am it went off again. After 15 minutes it still wouldn't stop. This time, when I typed in the code, it stopped the internal alarm, but the outside alarm is still going. It just keeps flashing 'unset' and 'tamper', and we can't stop it. The other problem is the upstairs lighting. In the breaker box, there are fuses for downstairs lighting, sockets, cooker etc., but NONE for upstairs lighting. Turning the mains on and off again does nothing. Why is there no circuit breaker for the upstairs lighting? Could there be a second box somewhere? Can't find anything... Please help.
  11. I'm using home plugs. Have been using them for this machine in this house for almost a year, with no problems. OK - fair enough. I meant I wasn't streaming porn or torrenting...
  12. Tried system restore - no change. You mean my network card? As in the drivers? How do I go about that? For what it's worth, this happened mid-browsing. Had Facebook, Youtube and a couple of other sites I use regularly (so nothing dodgy!) open - just started happening out of the blue. It's now coming back for a minute or so at a time, then cuts out again. All the time it says I have a connection. ---------- Post added 12-06-2013 at 22:32 ---------- Here we go... 13. On a PC, Windows 7, web pages fail to load in any browser. Have reset the router, restarted the PC and emptied the cache. Using home plugs, appear to be functioning fine. All other computers in the house connect fine. Task bar icon indicates I'm connected to the Internet, pages simply won't load. Occasionally they DO load, only to stop loading part way through, as though I'm getting a 'dribble' of data. Thoughts?
  14. Long story short, our boiler pressure keeps dropping - I open the valve to get it up to 1.5 bar or so, and within 5 mins it's back to zero. I can't find a leak anywhere. Our landlady says she can't get someone to look at it until after Christmas. We've got no heating or hot water. Is there anything we can do ourselves to fix it? It doesn't even maintain pressure long enough to have a shower...
  15. Anyone know the location of any of those machines you can exchange coins for notes? The one at the Chapeltown Asda is out if order. Is there anywhere at Meadowhall I can do it? Or elsewhere in Sheffield?
  16. Firstly, it's petrol, and there's a third of a tank in. Secondly, no-one knowledgeable around unfortunately... Thirdly - whether it's spark plugs or immobilizer or something else entirely - what's my next logical step in getting it diagnosed/fixed if I have no breakdown cover?
  17. If that's the case... anyone recommend any good mobile mechanics?
  18. Thanks. Pretty sure it's not the battery though as the starter cranks normally... Either way, I haven't got a clue what I'm looking at under the bonnet. I need to know - logistically - what I can do next. Will I have to hire a tow-truck to take it to a garage?
  19. So, my car (2006 Clio) won't start. The engine cranks over, but it simply won't kick in. Not had any problems before, and it's my first car, so not sure what to do next... I'm not with the AA, so what would be my next step in getting sorted...? It's currently parked outside my house.
  20. Good mix of ideas there - thanks everyone!
  21. Are there no replies because no one can think of anywhere...?
