I live in S36, normally forgotten by Sheffield council unless they are looking to ship out problem people!! However, I love the place, on the edge of countryside, great for walking or biking, the shops in the town are a bit of a mixture, but you can get most things you need. I can do most of my work over the internet so when it snows and you get snowed in it is OK, also I live in an old stone cottage with an aga (very cosey).
The area has lots of history and historic places, the industry is Steel which is famous around the world even today and if you look back a couple of hundered years glass making.
S36 is a good place to live and I am very happy here and it isn't that far from the city.
