And probably a lot more stuff available to buy as it will be more than could fit in a car! TOTLEY YARD SALE will start at 11.00am so you can get to other car boot sales and get back for this one. For buyers, there will be a map with the list of sellers' addresses available for 50p from 10.30am on the day from 16, The Grove, S17 4AS. 11. Come along to Totley on the weekend of Sat 11th and Sun 12th July from 1-5pm and visit some of the 12 gardens that will be open that weekend. You will be inspired and maybe get some new ideas. The open gardens offer a range of planting styles, from annuals and hanging baskets to herbaceous, woodland and vegetables. There is also the Totley Pinfold (where stray animals were impounded) now converted to a peaceful garden for the community, a garden adapted for disability and a garden with hens and ducks. Cream teas will be available in some gardens, plants for sale in others, and toilets available in others and at the Fleur de Lys pub. Tickets are on sale at Totley Library, Baslow Road, for a month before the event, and at 170 Baslow Road, between the Ironing Parlour and Equestrian Stablemate shops on the days. Tickets are £4 per person, which gives you a programme listing each garden and their features, and is extremely good value. Children are free but must be accompanied by an adult. The money raised will go to Transport 17 which provides buses to take isolated elderly people from across south Sheffield to lunch clubs.
  12. If it was Green City Action (though it might have been the Council) that organised last year's Environmental Fair (or Festival) last year it was a huge disappointment in fact you could say flop. There were not that many stalls, there were a large number of funfair rides, no activities (races, games etc) and lots of junk food stalls. The Totley Festival was a far better environmental event with 26 environmental organisations and 25 stalls. And that was just organised by local people.
  13. Hello No we did not organise a Yard Sale this Spring. I expect to run another in October, so keep your eyes out on Sheffield Forum as I will of course post it there.
  14. The Sheffield Humanist Society met in the upstairs room of the Three Cranes for 15 years, but has now moved the monthly meetings to SADACCA, 48 The Wicker, S3 8JB. The meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, at 8pm, and everyone is welcome. The next meeting will be a talk and discussion by John Halstead on "Robert Owen - Co-operator and Secularist".
  15. Thanks for all your compliments about the Totley Yard Sale today. We are so happy about the Forum's ability to reach people, and that we provided a good event for everyone. We had people come from Barnsley (obviously not football fans!) and Rotherham, which we were delighted about. Both sellers and buyers seemed to have a great day, and yes, weren't we lucky with the weather! We will try to improve our map for next Sale as some found it hard to read. And for any Totleyites reading this, hope you take part next time - it's a great way to get to know neighbours. We'll start a new thread when we set a date for the next Totley Yard Sale.
