Interestingly, James Jermyn's son - Nigel James Jermyn Hounsfield in on the 1939 register still living with his mother Sophia at Hackenthorpe Hall. He is down as incapacitated. Unmarried so perhaps it all ended with him!

My grandfathers records are one of the 'burnt records' as they are called but I still found his
medal card. Post the details and no doubt we will be happy to help search.

I have been researching for many years and use both ancestry and FMP. FMP now has the 1939 register which can be viewed with the normal subscription.
NannyH -If you go to the free birth marriages and deaths you could search for your husbands parents - then their marriage without having to pay.

I have taken a look at what I think is this family and I have found that Clara was maybe married before - I think she was Clara Littlewood. I did this by looking at the 1911 census where she is living with her mother Mary Littlewood, husband Henry and son John(did this one die I wonder). In 1891 she is with mary(Mother) and Alfred(father) along with several siblings. More research needed I think.

I would stick with Epson ones until your guarantee runs out. After that I recently bought some in Asda and they work well.

we did do a system restore before it all went black and are hoping that didn't make things worse!!!When it came back on there were 38 updates. Its strange because another friend had a similar problem with her laptop after updates but it was back to normal after leaving it for a week!! All very strange - we are awaiting the local IT man.
I am a bit upset because I usually solve all my friends problems but feel this is beyond me. thanks again Smary
