  1. Be coming on at J26 (Nottingham) .... was hoping to hit Sheffield around 5:30pm. Have not checked out the A61 route, is it easy and less likely to be mega busy?
  2. Irenewilde, thanks, I have to say I agree about J34 - just that the Arena's website says J33, so maybe you're right and they're trying to stem the flow and spread the traffic out a bit!! Yes, it has been a bizarre journey really - it's so odd to see a band playing in front of a couple of hundred people half of whom don't really care in any case, to Wembley Stadium a couple of Summers ago (what a day!) - for the record, three times in Birmingham, twice in Sheffield, once in leicester, three times in London and once in Exeter! I'd have to say Birmingham Academy May 2001 was the best - small venue, great setlist and great support. My only sadness is that so many of the songs I fell in love with in the late 90s are consigned to CD, never to be aired again live. Inevitable I suppose.... have a great night tomorrow, I am slugging it out with the 'standers' as ever, trying to make my way as close t othe barrier as possible - enjoy it! You're right about the notoriety as well - I find it amazing - I can't think of any artist who has had THREE consecutive number one albums in the UK charts and of whom so many people have never heard!
  3. Can't really imagine what it feels like to go through something like that - and hope to goodness this is sorted out for the good sometime soon. I am lucky enough to be going to my 10th Muse gig tomorrow, almost precisely 10 years after the first one when I was joined in the audience by one man and his dog.... wel, not quite, but you know. Just a quick question - if I am coming from the south, do you think I am best off coming off the M1 at J33 or J34? Regarding the missing lad, a great idea by Muse. Sure everybody who has seen that video willhave their eyes peeled!
  4. Hi there mate, in fact my previous squash partner was also 33 and in good shape and we were very evenly matched! There's no chance I'll be way too good for you, like I say, I am certainly no expert, I'm just someone who has decent hand-eye so can make a reasonable fist of most sports (though I am mainly a golfer). I've never had any proper training or coaching etc. Wednesday nights are free for me every week, Monday nights are often are too, how about yourself? Cheers.
  5. All in the title I guess. My regular squash partner slipped a disc in his back and has been told not to risk playing ever again for fear of a recurrence! I'm a 23 year old fella (well, 23 tomorrow!), happy to play with a male or female - if you'll excuse the terminology; I can't be bothere to change it - I guess ideally around the same age but open to any offers! I am no expert, but am reasonably fit so I guess someone who is in decent shape would be good! I just like running around like a maniac and smacking a little ball as hard as I can against a wall really! I live near S10 so the uni courts would be best for me.... open to any offers, just drop me a PM. I'll add my facebook link to my profile on here just so you can see i'm a real person and not a serial killer. Cheers! Tim.
  6. When I was in the uni team we had the misfortune of having 'coaching' at Rother Valley. The assistant pro was trying to make everybody use such a strong grip that it made Paul Azinger's look weak, it was an absolute farce! IF you can afford to, seek out a good patient pro and, just as importantly, get him some junior clubs and not cut down adult clubs. A lot of well meaning parents do the latter, but the clubheads are too heavy and not suitable for kids of that age - it can cause all sorts of problems later on. Seve learnt with a cut down 3-iron, but................ that's Seve!
  7. I'm interested, used to play loads but haven't done so now for yonks, would love to get back into it. Where do you fellas play?
  8. Hang on, are we saying the 4.50 daytripper still exists??? Three different tram conductors have now told me they've scrapped it andi can't buy one anymore! What's going on?!
  9. Sorry, I should've added - I rang the bank in question and was put in a queue of monstrous proportions, so thought I'd ask here! Cheers.
  10. Sorry if this is a daft question - with it being a bank holiday weekend, will branches that are usually open on saturdays still be open today? In other words is it just monday when they'll be shut?
  11. Hope this doesn't come across as snobbish from someone who has been brought up at a private club, but I've played many munis in my time and never experienced such bad etiquette and slow play as I do at Birley, Tinsley and Beauchief. The other day, the group behind us at Tinsley teed off before we'd holed out........... on the second!! I just took the off the green to the fringe and hit it back at them. Grr.
  12. Well, we've got Setanta at my 'home' in Burton, but not in my (ex)-student house up here, we've only got sky sports. In actual fact, my footy team (Burton Albion) are live on setanta tonight so I was hoping I might find somewhere to watch it!
  13. Does anyone know of any pubs in town, or Crookes/Broomhill, that have setanta sports? Cheers.
  14. Hi folks - odd request this, but I wondered if anybody knew of any pubs in and around Sheff who show non-league footy when it's on? I'm a Burton Albion season ticket holder and we're live on Setanta thursday night. I can't get to the game and was hoping I might be able to watch it somewhere (and I'd rather not have to fork out for setanta even if it is only a tenner a month). Cheers.
