Thanks to all who replied to my query on the spoon found in N.Ireland Hutch and Abigailer cracked it as being dated around the 1920's ,thanks again. William

has anyone any info on dating cutlery.I found an old spoon whilst metal detecting it is marked Fleming Sheffield Eng.also on it are what looks like "taunis silver".The plating has worn off and it is copper coloured.The area may have been a campsite previous to a battle fought in Antrim town N. ireland in 1798. Were spoons stamped as early as this i do'nt know maybe someone locally would know .Any help will be appreciated. thanks, William
