  1. I agree, the situation is awful. But we are handing Amey Millions upon millions and the end result is that Amey gets to set the responses, self monitor and can do what they like in a lot of situations as there isn't enough oversight. The same goes for utility companies. There was a lot of promise about stopping the constant trenches and rubbish backfill with strict oversight. But nope. Amey have just relayed some tarmac at the top of Jawbone. It looks like a washboard it's so thin. Not a chance that matches the standard it should be, but if I raise a complaint it's Amey that goes and checks Amey's work and then Amey come back and say it's fine. This is our money being handed to Amey - billions of it.
  2. Amey get notified of a fix needed by the public, Amey reviews the hole, Amey Fixes the hole and then Amey confirms that the work is up to spec as the council cut staff in the department that would check. They also have the power/authority to respond to the public about the repairs. So Amey can confirm that Amey is doing a great job and Amey approved this message....
  3. There is a scathing piece in the Look Local on this - aimed more at the Tree issue but shows how stupid we are in dealing with a major company with NO oversight. https://issuu.com/looklocalnewspaper/docs/binder1_c9a8a357d027b2 How absurd - the contract is based on the principle of performance self-monitoring. By Amey themselves!!
  4. This has been a very very very long running process. I'm no fan of the government or the council, but it's been years since this was first proposed. Margin Booze closed ages ago to allow the 'square' to be built.
  5. My children and all their friends have bank accounts and cards, and they find money strange. We don't have money in the house for tickets anymore, only bank transfers.
  6. The road sensor doesn't appear to have changed much, and it does stay on green for Middlewood too long IMHO. Many times I've come off the estate and it's green fro way up the road and still got through very easily. Still some more work needed on it.
  7. Just my 2 pennies worth, but when I went to the Owls/Rotherham game a few weeks back and my first thought was to take the Tram through to the Rotherham station. I didn't want to get to the train station in Sheffield and then go as we live on the tram network - the station in Sheffield is just not in the right place for me. So horses for courses when it comes to two similar services - I'd go Tram and not bother with the train. And there has to be figures to support this, not just anecdotal evidence but hard facts (as has been mentioned).
  8. It'll be interesting to see if the Bee Network success (or at least perceived success) replicates over here.
  9. All the details are included in the approved planning application. The play area isn't being touched, and the extra parking spaces are due to the current car park being reconfigured and made more useful. The Star article states: So it's closer to the entrance, provides more Park and Ride which appears to be needed, it covers both tracks (it's dual width at this point) and doesn't take away from the play area. All in all not a bad scheme and it's been planned for years (at least 2021).
  10. Looking at the plans, the tram stop is a fair bit closer to the entrance to the building than the buses. The road is effectively round the back, with the tram on the entrance side. I personally don't see an issue with this. It'd make me consider taking the tram when visiting. Plus the stats say that other park and rides are full so gives more options other than just attending Magna.
  11. Leaving it as a dirt track is a lower whole life cost too. Doesn't mean we want to keep them or get new ones.

  13. And didn't we (through the council) pay for said bridge during the renovations and changes? So technically it was public money spent building it so EMR have no right to stop access - unless a replacement is built of course etc etc.
  14. I did wonder whether to put Leeds in to be honest. I was more thinking of the various access points but I take your point.
  15. No change to the access for taxi's or drop off, even worse is more residential in the area. Tried to pick up my wife on Friday mid-afternoon. Chaos everywhere with taxis fighting to get in to drop off, queues of taxis waiting to get in and too many people waiting to pick up. All with one road in and out. Compare that to Manchester or Leeds station access,
