Thanks for merging it. I didn't see this thread. If anybody can confirm if they have been over there today from the Sheffield end to Glossip that would be great. Also if anybody reads this tomorrow if you get a chance to post whether it has been closed again or anything, or if the traffic on there is crazy etc it would be very much appreciated. I know 2 routes to get to Sheffield without any problems, but getting back I only know the one over snake pass :S Don't want to get lost haha.

Hey I was heading up to sheffield on Thursday 14th Feb (v.day) and snakes pass was closed so I had to go back and divert around towards barnsley to get to the M1. I am travelling back home tomorrow afternoon so I was wondering if Snakes pass is back open again and why it was closed in the first place? I tried looking online but couldn't find anything. Thanks. A standard Escort GTi with Recaro seats.....lol. Well its nice enough for a full time student like me lol (Only earn 13k a year in my full time job But i'm getting great experience here for when i finish my degree, doing both full time can be a bit tough though! Its a demanding job and not just in a shop somewhere lol) -
I plan to drive from either Chester or Knutsford in Cheshire this evening to sheffield to see my girlfriend but the only route I know of is over Snakes Pass (A57). I also read theres a place called woodshead or something like that via the A628. I would usually come through glossip and across Snakes Pass. Is there any way to avoid ALL mountain sort of areas as i do not feel safe with the wind and even if its slows down tonight there could be a big gust at any time. Is there a route via the M1 motorway that avoids all mountain type routes, i.e It will be all Motorway/Town driving?? Is Snakes Pass even open today? Not that i would go that way if i could. Any help is greatly appreciated! regards, Daniel
