  1. So you say that the Tories won't do it, and I say they will - Just lets wait and see.
  2. Re- Inflation. Unions consider Inflation by the RPI figures which is correct because this also takes account of housing costs which have risen a astronomically for many. CPI only considers the shopping basket which is NOT all that people have to find money for.
  3. That would be absolutely brilliant for the NHS recruiting campaign wouldn't it ? They have enough problems filling vacancies now, Maybe our MP's could drag themselves away from the bars and dining tables and put a stint in for the NHS so that they know the problems at first hand. They seem to have enough spare time to hold 5, 6 , or 7, jobs down whilst apparently "working hard " for us. Maybe Axe could tell us how to staff the NHS whilst the pay keeps going down in relation to the cost of living.
  4. Because, like any sensible person, they realise that the Rwanda plan will not work. The Tories are sticking with it, simply because they cannot think of anything else.
  5. Are they ? I don't know the people who are welcoming them who find their views abhorrent - do you ? What we really need, and what we've never had, is a government who will openly discuss immigration and asylum properly and publicly so that we know exactly what's happening and why. This discussion also needs to be weighted by the public view too and not conducted as though it's nothing to do with us. We need all political parties to come to agreement regarding further immigration and asylum and, when policy is put into place, it should NOT be changed by whoever is in power to suit their ends. First thing is to drop the stupid Rwanda debacle because sending 300 people there is never going to stop the millions waiting to come here. Then form an all party group with public representation to get started because NO MP's from NO parties, have a clue what to do next and are just floundering.
  6. I agree. That's why it will always be hard to cut the birth rate because the women don't get a say in it and have to do as they're told.
  7. My bold: That would be a sensible move. Progress isn't always an improvement. we should also cut down on our "toys" as they are now referred to but not much chance when some blokes are now collecting space rockets.
  8. That will just cause them to leave the NHS at a greater rate than they are doing already.
  9. Again I agree with you for the second time in 5 minutes. Something else I could never have predicted in this strange world we now live in.
  10. And I will add my support to Prettytom and Axe. It's like going through a kids comic.
  11. If Gove's saying it, then it must have been discussed with a view to commandeer another Labour strategy. Hunt's still looking for some more money and is keeping remarkably silent at Gove's words so I would say it's quite likely, so the party might leave you to huff & puff on your own. We will all stand by to hear that "Johnson wouldn't have done that".
  12. That's a rare sensible comment from you and I totally agree. Why don't we wait then until they all tell us their magic tales. Judging on past performance though, it is sensible to rule out voting for a particular party whatever the manifesto if you think they're lying ( they do that sometimes ). I just hope they don't promise to stop the boats or get the economy going again. As Popeye said " I can't stands no more"
  13. What else did you say was responsible ?
  14. Everybody else is having to make economies and I see no reason why private schools should not do the same if it's necessary. Despite the 0.7% drop in inflation, people on the News, were claiming that their insurance has gone up double. it'll not hurt private schools to share the load.
  15. You gave one example and that was the example I quoted. It wasn't rubbish unless what you said was rubbish and that's open to interpretation. Talk to whoever you like.
  16. That was the only reason you gave, so presumably, there was no other reason. People can only judge on what you write.
  17. If Starmer want's to make people you call "whingers" happy, then that's up to him. I agree with Labour that charging VAT on private school fees is a correct move. Whoever would expect you to approve of a Labour manifesto anyway - no surprise there. As I said, Labour will not find your missing vote a problem - just like the Tories who had to manage without mine. That's the way things work.
  18. It didn't say anything else at all so the only statement you made is the only statement people can quote.
  19. Post #41 Foodbanks and phones were the only things you mentioned. and hackey thought you were correct too.
  20. Well noted peak4 - thank you. Anyone who wants to vote for a party which attracts candidates of that calibre should really refrain from judging either our Labour or our Tory parties.
  21. Just had another look at Reform's policies. Sounds like Utopia but makes many promises and says absolutely nothing about how all these promises will be met. How can anyone be swayed by someone who says they will make it all better without telling you how and without telling you how it's going to be paid for. Sunaks ideas on immigration, will not work and we know that already. Starmers ideas should work better than Sunak's but not enough detail. Reforms ideas - well, what are they because they don't tell us ?
  22. That despite things being far from ideal in the UK at this present time, they are far far worse in many other places where wars, famines, uprisings and other brutality occur.
  23. Quite correct and far more relevant to our way of life than a post which simply thinks foodbanks are responsible for all our troubles.
  24. That doesn't explain why there are fairly regular news items discussing that very ripping off. Doesn't matter to me because I no longer attend either sporting events or music events. Despite my lack of interest, I'm not so mardy as to complain if he does something which will benefit someone else. He must have good reason to spend time on that point. It would be nice to see the Tories wondering if they could make life better for someone, rather than harder, as is their wont.
  25. Very many people do go to sports and musical events and get ripped off by ticket touts. May not be important to you but it will to those who we hear complaining. It's the biased media who tell you this when they could have mentioned something more important instead. Everything is important to someone.
