  1. Shush. You'll damage Eton's good name by reminding everyone of the link between Eton and Johnson and they certainly won't thank you for that. How rare it is that they should release a school report of a former pupil, especially one so damning as this - quote _ “Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude to his classical studies . . . Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half): I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else.”
  2. There's no disgrace whatsoever in Kate making a personal statement. It was clear that many people cared very deeply for her wellbeing and it's a natural human trait to wonder what's happening. She will be inundated with goodwill and caring, some of it, coming even, from people who are not, and never will be, royalists. No disgrace, No shame, just love and caring and also, concern for her loved ones who will be frightened to death at this point.
  3. Well said mate and I agree with every word. Many don't realise how a combination of circumstances, good fortune and strategic mistakes by the enemy, joined by our readiness to sweat blood and tears to defend our shores, saved us from hearing jackboots in our streets and us becoming a part of a new German Empire. We will always owe many thanks, to many people from other shores, as well as our own heroic lads and lasses.
  4. I was shocked upon hearing the news of Kate, especially on the heels of Charles cancer announcement. I am not a monarchist but nevertheless wish them well and hope they both make good recoveries and return back to full health. I know it will be terrifying news for both William and for Camilla, as well as the rest of the family, and I sincerely hope that their fears are soon put to rest.
  5. You don't understand that living in the USA will makes people behave like Americans ? All that travel hasn't taught you very much. You forgot to tell us how many wars the English have waged compared to the Irish.
  6. We were one of the main architects of more or less all International Laws so that would be undoing what we created. It would help if we stopped causing or encouraging wars, which are often the main cause of people migrating.
  7. Why not try telling us how many wars the English have waged and how many have the Irish conducted ? The Irish in the states have the American influence on them so we can't expect them to be any more peaceful than the average yank.
  8. You are correct. Nothing has changed and Yes, they are still wasting millions or even billions of pounds, instead of doing something useful with it. The Calais migrant's situation is still the same too with a record 500 coming over in one day this week.
  9. What friends ? You do have a terrible memory.
  10. Not surprising that the country is short of money with these clowns in charge.
  11. That's correct. Our efforts against any of those three would be laughable. Unfortunately, we are straying from the topic a little and need to get back to the Calais migrants. It would seem that the slowdown which Sunak referred to as proof that his measures were working, has turned out to be not a slow down at all. Quite the opposite - A very big increase in fact.
  12. So it is but it but we are not out of the woods yet. It needs to stay positive and there's no guarantee that it will.
  13. There's a lot of truth there and, surprisingly enough, we created quite a few ourselves.
  14. But said that they won't alter interest rates yet because they have to be sure that this ( small ) improvement is not only temporary. It's only a FORECAST and we have had forecasts before which proved wrong.. When they lower interest rates, you can claim some improvement worth talking about.
  15. Russia, China and India, who are still supporting Russia, and who in an altercation, would most likely take sides with Russia. Neither respect, nor wishful thinking, make you more powerful. The only really powerful nation we have on our side is the USA and, if Trump makes a comeback, we may be saying goodbye to them if he lets Russia have Ukraine whilst we are supporting Ukraine. When I was a lad, we had an Empire and were a main world power, alas that is most definitely no longer so. Many nations who are not superpowers, could give us a very tough fight and pride would not over ride that. We also have a shortage of raw materials, Industry, skilled manpower and we are not self sufficient in anything which matters, especially food.
  16. Have respect for what you like but, leaving the EU means nothing as regards military might. Being a permanent member of the UN security Council means nothing regarding military might - when it was set up we were a powerful; nation but not any more. Out of those six most powerful nations, 3 of them can be regarded as potential future enemies and all three are vastly more powerful than us. think about it.
  17. Maybe not doing something right, but moving to the right, that's all, and Jones is a lefty which he readily owns up to. He's simply disgusted at many of Labours policies, as are many former Labour supporters and voters. Starmer wants to be rid of the lefty element anyway so it doesn't make a deal of difference to Starmer and the party's sure it can cut it in their new found move to the right. All those aligned with the views of the old original Labour will be sad but all things change - sometimes successfully, and sometimes disastrously. Most are not interested and just want to see the backside of the Tories.
  18. Being always involved in military action means you've always got some enemies who would like to duff you up. Try noticing that we are a tiny little country, with no great industrial base, no natural resources except coal, with a tiny little armed force and, we can't even feed ourselves. We have never been the good guys and have done as much harm as any other nation and we are not big enough, strong enough or rich enough to be the world's policeman. In the early phases of the Ukraine war, it was admitted by our government that, if we ever had to fight on that scale, we had enough ammunition for 24 hours. Very much like our PPE for Covid.
  19. One of the problems with cars on roads is that there are as many parked cars, taking up road space and creating single file traffic, as there are cars which are actually being driven.
  20. That's what you said. Why respond to my post if that's not what you meant. I think the Tories will copy Labour, which I have already said, You think whatever you please.
  21. Not only selling armaments, but our propensity for interfering in other nations affairs, and most especially, in going to war against other nations have led to the increase in migrants. We attacked Iraq which led to permanent instability and Iraqi migrants making their way here. Exactly the same happened with Afghanistan.. We were the nation who, in the 1940's, decided that some land in the middle east belonged to us and we could give it away to cause almost 80 years of trouble. War is one of the biggest causes of migration and we, together with our friends, the USA are among the worlds most warlike nations.
  22. He's certainly a fine advert for Reform. Whatever else it is, it sure seems to be a home for all the cranks.
  23. I wouldn't argue with that. they may well be turning a blind eye to them, but that's not forcing them.
  24. How do you work that one out ? Are the French making them climb in the boats at gunpoint ? And then the asylum seekers voluntarily give some money to the gangsters before they leave ?????????????????????????????
