  8. yeah.. saw them in rotherham, '82 i think... got LF on CD, used to play it on a Fri / Sat in my previous role... always got folks asking who it was and what it was called... an electronic classic !! anybody remember another local electronic band, silent running ? ... m x ...
  9. i'll be there, photographing the gig.. (well, the first three !!) heard mixed reviews, very much similar to what's been written on here. fortunate enough to get hold of a live show on CD from the USA from last year, and it's dark.. ... m ... X
  10. resigned him after the blades 0-1 defeat at stockport county on a monday evening in 1981... remember him sat with porterfield in the dugout (though memory may be playin' tricks !!) 25 years later, it's beating the champions league finalists 1-0... not losing at stockport county !! those were the days... !!

  13. James Brown, Godfather Of Soul, dies. Groundbreaking singer and musician passes away at 73... James Brown singer and songwriter has died at the age of 73 after being admitted to hospital in Atlanta suffering pneumonia. His agent Frank Copsidas confirmed that he had died at 1.45am local time (6.45am UK time) He was responsibble for both siesmic events in soul: being at the birth of both R&B and funk. Subsequently his records became one of the most sampled ever by rap artists. His most famous and influential songs include 'Sex Machine', 'I Got You (I Feel Good)', 'Papa's Got A Brand New Bag' and 'Make It Funky'. His 'Live At The Apollo' (1963) album is considered to be one of the greatest live albums ever made. The star was born in 1933 in South Carolina. Brown continued to perform and tour right up untill his death. He recently appeared in London at the BBC Electric Proms at the newly opened Roundhouse venue.
