  7. Lived on Stovin rd in the early 1960's until 1969 moved to deeper darnall area. I always classed stovin rd as Darnall anything over the Broughton lane bridge I classed as attercliffe.I lived @ 120 which was nearer Greenland Rd @ the end of the road, there was 2 corner shops @ the time, Prices & Emma's .Emma's was run by a really old lady from what I remember.Always remember a large scrap yard which backed on to some of the houses on Stovin across from our house massive pile of scrap that looked like it was ready to slip.Remember Jacksons Ice cream man coming around on Sunday selling flavored / coloured ice cream, other ice cream vans did not stand a chance,Ah long time ago
  8. I use to play football on the fields @ the rear of this building as a 8 year old kid on wards over 40 odd years ago.The building was then derelict it was often thought by us kids then that it was haunted & the said ghost was called Algie (not sure of the spelling). We once entered the building & played in the gym there that still housed most of the equipment but we got chased off by the caretaker ( we never went in there again)Later it was a youth club in the early 1970's .Facilities available were football ,snooker, darts, table tennis, weight lifting etc.I personally played football for them & it was one of the first to house a floodlite all weather pitch ( now in disrepair ).The last time I looked the building looked in a sorry state but I have fond memories of the place. Good luck in finding more info on the building

  13. I remember back in the 70's going with the SUT Tours on angling trips, you used to depart from the semi circular building that was in front /adjacent of the Queens head pub ( I think that was the name of the pub) in Pond Street bus station. There used to be, what I thought a very frail old fellow (No idea of his name) running the show & shouting out the destinations, IE Tattershall bridge,Sibsey trader & a whole other variety of locations en route.I was only very young then & on my own but a period of no fear & all seemed very friendly, all had one cause in mind ,course fish & no one ever got water licked because they would fib about their catches!!! Aye the one that got away?.I think the legenday Ivan marks once participated but it was a long time ago. I just watch my GOLD FISH now
  14. Gordon Brown will never be Prime minister but Hillary Clinton may well be President.Time will only prove me right or wrong .Does Any one have other opinions. Our governments/parties are a sham ,we need a radical leader who will avoid all minority input (well not all)who seem these days to have all say in all matters.Majority should rule, to avoid conflict. The more the minority get their way ,the more unrest will occur with the majority.Globalisation will never work unless you go universal(see what I mean) ET not possible.Nations on this planet will never ever ever amalgamate ,we are all (not all)too extreme to be as one, although UK is the best place to start ,as we already should know.Probably the most enviable country for those already in & those who are still trying to get here, even risking their lives.Good luck to the innocent but hopefully the criminal element will be stopped we will see
  15. There will never be peace in the east ,in the west is best.South & North too extreme. All to his own & leave all else alone
