If Labour did not see fit to give families on 80K a year child tax credits, maybe families on £40K may still benefit but now the middle classes get turned over in the interests of not ending up like Greece! Agreed with all that to be honest. I think it was an anti tory rant, this this is something all government are guilty of. I think there is higher priority that worrying too much about fags and booze right now. Get the revenue from tax and worry about it when the economy is in better shape!

As I said on the other thread, they need to start a political party that can stand for election. They can do this if they believe in their own credability. They can then promise reform on the back of this to tackle that problem too! You need to hack into whats there first before you change it!

Its the best way in. Change it once you've got the power to do so.

Why don't these people form their own political party. I'm sure anyone can do this. Surely this is the way to getting their foot in the door, the power to change. I'll start taking some notice if that happens.

I would join in any religious festivals celebrated in any foreign country I lived in or any country in which the primary religion differed from my own (say I was actually born there etc) in the interests of respect, getting into the spirit of what is widely celebrated where I lived, when in rome n all that! This argument is only valid from someone who's primary reasons for celebrating Christmas are religious. This accounts for very few people. I'm just glad the religious aspect of it has more relevance personally. No devout christian but would rather go to church on x-mass eve than meadowhell on boxing day!

A lot could be done to sort out the pub trade and bring it back to life. Thats a separate issue really but the point is, for some of the perks we can no longer afford if we are not wealthy banker are more than made up by the general standard of living.

Yeah, it were great during the 70's!! Grey communist style city centers and vile dilapidated housing but at least you had enough money to buy fish and chips and get s**tfaced on warm bitter every night after working in conditions akin to those faced by people in North Korean prison camps for 12 hours a day!
