The first half of the Autumn term has been the worst for supply teaching in Sheffield and Rotherham ever. Anyone have any insight into to why this might be?

This year (Sep Oct ) daily supply has dwindled to virtually nothing.

So who knows what is happening at SESSA? Why is a review taking so long? Why can't the council give a clear view of what is going on? SESSA candidates have bills to pay, and lives to lead, too. People need clarity and time to adjust. Any views about this? How much were the banks bailed out ? How much is owed in unpaid taxes? How shocked is the Chancellor ? Supply Candidate

The people grumbled and muttered. A sign went up. Some saw it for what it was . Some came to see how they could help. Some thought 'We...', most used 'They...' After a while the sign went away. The people grumbled. 'We' worked to change things. 'We' became We. They grumbled and waited.

Hello, Bannerdale is/was a training centre where teachers could go on short/day training courses. The courses were be organised by Sheffield City Council education department ,led by advisers, and teachers could choose which to go on. This year,many of the courses have been stopped , and theoretically schools will instead put themselves forward as suppliers/venues for training days. There will be some inertia, which I think will lead to fewer courses, which will mean that teachers stay in class, which will mean that fewer supply teachers are needed. Just my opinion, and I'm not fully aware of all the factors involved.

Is it just an odd start to autumn 2011, or did supply work just fall off a cliff? I've compared work days with the last few years and it seems just about dead. Could the change in training at Bannerdale have caused this? or real use of budgets? Any opinions?

It's good to see that people still believe in God. I would think the same if I saw a new church or other place of worship. I do not have the faith or conditioning or whatever. Good to see that people still believe in God though.
