  7. yes that's what I wondered as well. Doesn't that make a goose fly in circles? But the number of shuttles used in the olympics is enormous if you consider they use about 20 shuttles a game....that leaves 160 bald goose a game!

  20. We could write a book about the real history of Badminton!
  21. Some even believe that the Big Bang was caused by a shuttle that for first the first time reached the speed of sound, thereby exploding and creating a hole through which the ethereal semi-sentient found it's way through to our cosmos. (therefore Big Bang is also ocaisonally referred to as 'Big Bangminton'). It could therefore be assumed that we in fact live on a tiny piece of Shuttle. The first humans who realised this decided to honour The Badminton God and not only kill the Goose for its meat but to re-use its feathers in so called shuttles.....some even stuck the feathers up their ***...(but that's a whole different story!)
  22. Don't worry we're not going to raise the fee! As some of you might know; last week we sponsored the Hillfoot Steel Group 'Badmintonathon' (http://www.badmintonathon.com/) with free shuttles. We provided them with shuttles to achieve their 24 hour non stop badminton game to raise money (about £3000,-!!!) for two charities. This amazing achievement by them gave us the following idea: We as a committee propose to give £0,10p (of the £4,- fee so it won't cost you anything extra) of every player each week to charity chosen by the group. By doing this we could raise £2,50-£3,50 a night x about 50 playing weeks = approx £150,- a year. It seems a really easy way to give something back to the ones who need it badly and we (as a club) can afford it. It might not seem that much but the group is growing and every bit helps right?! We plan to hand to money to the chosen charity at the annual Christmas dinner. This gives us some time to chose one. A poll will be set up in our forum group where new ideas will be added in. So please have a think about where you think the money would be well spend. (No not your own bank account!) We hope you're all behind us in this idea and that we may raise a lot of money! Jaap
