Hi smith29 your dad must have been Ken is that right? so sorry to hear he has died, I did not go in the East House at the time of the shooting, too young, but did start going in a few years later and got to know Ken, and Tommy Musgrave, Terry Forrest and the rest of the lads quite well, please accept my condolences and please pass them on to your mum.
  5. And goes as far down as Meadow street, if you go from there to Upperthorpe you are rising all the way, so it depends which way you look at it. Buy the way only telling you what the teachers taught us.
  6. Not sure where the heart of the villages were when they were named but if you think where the schools are then Upperthorpe is at the top of Daniel Hill street and Netherthorpe is a lot lower.
  7. Yes you're right Jimmy was a decent dart player, don't know about the darnall league but he played in the others same time as me, 60s/70s
  8. As a young boy I went to both Netherthorpe and Upperthorpe schools, we were taught that the word "thorpe" is an old word for village/town, Upperthorpe being the village on the hill and Netherthorpe being the lower village.
  9. The one you are thinking of is Wyberton Bridge. And your right it is the South forty foot, the little forty foot is a tiny drain running parallel on a back road that leads to Chapel Hill.
  10. I always thought the Penthouse was on Dixon Lane, the Mojo was at the top of Barnsley road near the junction with Pitsmoor road on way to fir vale.

Hi In the early 60s I worked on the art college and was told at the time that there used to be a couple of small houses at the brow of the hill opposite side to Omega, all that was there at the time was a kind of very small rock face, anyway i was also told Charles peace lived in one of them, not sure if it's true. I think he was caught whilst living in London, on the run after shooting a policeman.
  13. Recognise big Malc, we used to have season tickets at Hillsborough in the 70s and we used to go fishing down lincs and also played darts in the Furnival. Please tell him Chalky says hello.

  17. Hi Has anyone used the "ADS intant Music "from PC World, I have bought it so as to transfer my vynil to cd through my pc but cannot get it to work. I have bought a pre amplifer to go with it but still I cannot get it to work, all wires connected from record deck, software been put on pc, all seems well BUT no sound, hope someone can help as I am going bananas.

  22. My first school was Nertherthorpe(sheffield) Then Upperthorpe and finished schooling at Burngreave christmas 1961
