  1. So what would you replace religion with?
  2. If someone is willing to take the risk to start up a company and create jobs, especially in these difficult times they have to be admired. The reason a company would prefer to outsource its cleaning is because the vacancy is normally filled by transient workers. How much time can you spend interviewing a cleaner when you need to run a business.
  3. Inconvenient truth for Al Gore as his North Pole sums don't add up Al Gore's office admitted that the percentage he quoted in his speech was from an old, ballpark figure There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday. The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row. Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years. In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months. However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast. “It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.” Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/copenhagen/article6956783.ece
  4. There would be no bosses unless the workers accepted the conditions being offered by the bosses. We live in a free market economy and depending on what stage of the cycle we are at would depend on the value of the employee. In layman's terms try getting a cleaner or domestic help when the economy is peaking. When we are in recession cleaners are ten a penny.
  5. Do they have grand-parents,parents or a aunty or uncle or maybe someone they consider to be shown respect. I think you are just making excuses for these street urchins.
  6. From reading Fhardy- I am of the opinion that the frustration is at the bus being 20 mins late and the old lady is a side issue.
  7. Rubydazler, my questions are not directed at you. I would agree with you about the younger end of the scale. But there is one thing that is important you are forgetting, if the kids of today cannot respect the needs of others-especially the elderly-then they have absolutely no respect for themselves.
  8. Ghozer - keep trying something will come good. Good luck.
  9. Liza D, so what exactly are you entitled to and were does that entitlement come from. The state is not a money tree: Input =Output. The UK should adopt a balance of payment system like so many other countries -you can only take out what you put in. Shame on you Liza D and get a job.
  10. You are focusing on the American Evangelists, it is not the Christian world as a whole or Jews. The Evangelists unfortunatly are a major power in the USA.
  11. Allisa, you really need to think why you don't understand the basics in life- when you are retired and you have spent your working life contributing to the system and bringing up a family with a moral spine to respect and adhere to the civil codes. Then at that point you too may walk to the front of the queue because you have earned your call. Let me ask you a question Would you allow your favorite singer to get on the bus before you? Would you allow your favorite footballer to get on the bus before you? Would you allow your favorite person from X factor to get on the bus before you? Well if you knew the life stories of some of our elderly citizens and what they have endured - they have contributed far more to our society than your favorite.
  12. From reading your post, it would seem that you are most ****** off with the bus turning up 20 mins late. If the bus had turned up on time and the elderly lady pushed her way to the front-you probably would not have been so irritated. Furthermore maybe the elderly person pushed to the front because she needed a seat ( for health reasons) these days young people will not give up a seat to a elderly person. I live in a country were it is standard to allow the elderly and pregnant women first at the bank, chemist, post office, bus, supermarket or anywhere there is a waiting system in place. It does not **** me off because one day it could be my mother, father or my pregnant wife that needs to use this speed service. But I must admit if I had to wait for a bus and it was 20 mins late I would not be happy when it turned up and I would be ready to vent my frustration on the nearest and easiest.
  13. As money from other EU members is invested in the UK.
  14. If the goods produced overseas are produced on behalf of a UK company and are imported to the UK and sold in the UK. I can see three revenue streams for UK PLC - What's the problem in that?
  15. Let us not forget that soldiers are given orders and obey them verbatum. The soldiers do not choose to go to Iraq and Afghanistan, they are given orders and follow them. Do you think our soldiers would prefer to be at home with their families or sit on the front line being popped at most days, watching their friends take a bullet for you and me.
