  1. But why would 'Poles' advertise in their press that 'we were an easy touch'? Poland is a member state of the European Union just like the UK and as such they are entitled to enter, work, live here and leave if they wish. Whilst here they are entitled to many of the benefits we enjoy just as we would in their country. Just over half of the 1million Poles who have visited the UK have since gone back home as their country's economy has improved.
  2. That'll be St.Luke:hihi: Seriously though, well done to the lady who followed in hot pursuit:clap:
  3. Thanks SCCMAN, that explains why the same journey from St. Pancras to Whitehall cost me £20 one day at around 9:30am when traffic was relatively quiet and £40 at around 10:30am when traffic was bad - makes sense now:)
  4. I gather the proposal was to use them just in the city centre, that's why I mentioned the FREEBEE bus that goes around the city centre.
  5. Taxi drivers are asking the council for PERMISSION to raise their rates, they are not asking for a REFUND from the council!
  6. I've heard that a small company is looking into providing rickshaws or pedicabs for use in the city centre. As we now have a FREEBEE bus running around the centre of town, would you use a rickshaw if it was free or moderately priced - your thoughts?
  7. Hi Squiggs You need to report this to the District Labour Party (272 4964) ask for Tony Slatcher and tell him what has happened. It sounds like some oiks have nicked/found a roll of lapel stickers and decided to create havoc. No self respecting activist from any party would stoop to such mindless vandalism. Let us know how you get on. Good luck
  8. You could try some of the old little mesters around Thomas Street, Eye Witness works and various others that are still beavering away. Good Luck
  9. Hi Kimba 3 things: 1. Does this mean you will be representing yourself in court? 2. If you can't find a typist to help you out then have a go at listening to the coversation and try typing it up yourself as you will know who was present and as you say it is about five minutes long so it shouldn't be that hard to do. 3. I would suggest you contact the Law Centre in Sheffield and ask their advice on data protection and privacy laws regarding the recording of conversations with or without the other parties consent. Good luck with it.
  10. Hi Kimba It might be easier to let your solicitor do it, that way you will avoid any data protection and privacy issues - best to check with your solicitor first.
  11. Hi Woodbine. Which Boots are you talking about? The one on High Street is not built over a graveyard. The original graveyard at the cathedral only extended as far as the supertram tracks hence the need to remove the remains before laying the tracks.
  12. If I remember rightly, they were taken to Abbey Lane but there must be a record of it somewhere.
  13. Actually Jon, all the bodies were removed in the early seventies as one of my friends dug them all up and they were re-interred elsewhere.
  14. Sorry to correct you Lirta, but Clive Betts is the local MP NOT a councillor/candidate standing in the local elections on May 1st! Whilst Clive was initially in favour of the jobs that the National Engineering Centre would have brought to the area, he took on board the concerns of the local community and has worked hard to get the changes and modifications they and he sought to the NEC. In this case "you're dammed if you do and dammed if you don't".
  15. You're right Quicken, but I was correcting Tess who thought Brendan was a boxer today. Carrying on the thread: I met Naz in the early 1990's with Brendan at a Xmas do. Naz was very slight and a nice quiet lad, I never thought, then, he would become as famous as he did - for all the right reasons:)
  16. Oops...He's a trainer and a lovely man - see him regularly:)
  17. Read the paperwork, if there's nothing in there that says £450 'provisionally' or dependent on inspection then IMO they should honour the agreement. Best thing to do is to give trading standards a ring and ask for their advice. Good luck with it:)
  18. Sorry PM, his name was Raoul Din and he was the first to have Tandoor ovens in Sheffield. His brother has a restaraunt in Doncaster. Hope you don't mind the correction.
  19. Hi Disco I understand where your going with this but on the one hand you say that 'there has been the chance for similar solar systems...' But fail to appreciate that 'Chance' can have a negative or a positive outcome. If you accept that our existence is due to a unique set of circumstances that happened by 'Chance' surely it is logical to assume that there could have been many such 'Chances' in emerging solar systems across the universe that resulted in a negative outcome - no life! If, for argument's sake there are 10 billion solar systems and we know for definite that we are the only one with life in it - then the odds of a new solar system emerging with life in it are 10 billion to 1 and it would be pure 'Chance' if this happened - to bring a superior being in now at this stage of the argument negates that very argument and replaces 'Chance' with 'Creation' and is simply not logical.
  20. The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Virgin 1 in 3 minutes..Bye....
  21. Oh come on! Everybody knows that you take the black dot and put it under a microscope and read the secret message - it's kids stuff off the back of a cornflake packet :hihi: Now hold this message up to a mirror: lived emosdnah uoy Simple yeah!
  22. That's got to be great news and truly 'inclusive', I just hope they retain the Cafe/Restaurant as Afro-Carribean food ROCKS and the people are great too!
  23. What for? - There's already one at Weston Park:loopy:
  24. I've no doubt that in some parts of Iraq things are better but Baghdad IS Iraq to all intents and purposes - it is the capital after all. Internet users have increased by 5 times - What? Let's not quiblle about an hour or two of electricity here and there the fact remains that Iraq (in general) has been brutalised back to the stone age for a lot of people - there's enough evidence on TV news this week to show that.
