  1. Magsie...we had same problem. Open sun-roof and check the rubber seal to see if it is sat in the well that runs around the opening. I used a damp cloth to push it back into place and clean the bit that touches the glass. If you do not open the sun-roof regularly and wipe the rubber seal with a damp cloth it will eventually 'glue' itself to the glass. Good luck with it.
  2. It just gets worse...... PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE USE – 16 June 2009 LibDem local tax policies in shambles as Clegg u-turns Clive Betts MP (Sheffield Attercliffe) today claimed the Liberal Democrat policies on local taxation were in a complete shambles. Clive Betts said: “The Liberal Democrat’s local tax policies are in complete shambles. Their leader (Nick Clegg MP) says one thing and their Local Government spokesperson (Julia Goldsworthy MP) says another in the space of 24 hours. It has been becoming clear for some time that Nick Clegg wanted to get out of the Liberal Democrat’s long-standing commitment to local income tax to replace council tax. There is a very simple reason for this. Superficially, local income tax can look very attractive when the economy is buoyant and growing fast. However, when economies are stagnant or in recession, local councils and local communities are faced with either massive increases in the local income tax rate or savage cuts in spending on services. Last night, in a parliamentary debate on business rates, I chided the Liberal Democrat Local Government spokesperson (Julia Goldsworthy MP) on the fact that she’d been able to make a long speech on local government finance without mentioning local income tax. “It’s our policy” she shouted to me. Then today, Nick Clegg MP (in an interview on Radio 4) finally admitted that he is actively considering alternatives to the Liberal Democrat’s existing local income tax policies. Yet, it appears, he hasn’t even told his own Local Government spokesperson.” Clive Betts continued: “Only 6 weeks ago, Liberal Democrat council candidates were telling people that their local income tax proposals to replace council tax would be fairer and could be implemented quickly. Anyone with any knowledge of these issues knew they were false promises. Now the cat is out of the bag and we see that the Liberal Democrat cupboard is bare. It’s yet another case of the Liberal Democrats saying one thing in one place and another elsewhere. How can anyone take their promises seriously?” Information for Editors: (1) Clive Betts’s speech in the House of Commons’ debate on Business Rates on 15 June 2009 is at Col 115: http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmhansrd/chan91.pdf (2) Julia Goldsworthy’s speech is at Col 110: http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmhansrd/chan91.pdf (3) Nick Clegg’s statement resiling from the Liberal Democrat commitment to Local Income Tax was on “You and Yours” (R4, 16 June 2009). 3. This press release explains a bit more: A year of the Sheffield Lib Dems: Evasions, U-turns and Broken Promises For immediate release Thursday 18 June 2009 Rt Hon David Blunkett, MP for Sheffield Brightside, has attacked Sheffield City Council’s Liberal Democrat administration ahead of the Lib Dem local government conference, to be held in the city on Friday and Saturday. Mr Blunkett is today issuing Evasions, U-turns and Broken Promises: A Snapshot of the Lib Dems in Local Government. The short document of Lib Dem failure since they took power in 2008 details how the administration has: • diverted money away from the poorest areas of Sheffield and redistributed it to the wealthiest areas, irrespective of need; • set up sham consultations with local people; • confirmed that they’re soft on crime; • rejected government cash to provide free swimming for children and older people, buy homes from families facing repossession which could then be rented back to them, and to buy unsold homes from developers to let to people on the housing waiting-list; • tried to slide out of a City Council commitment to modernise 2,000 homes; and • broken promise after promise. Mr Blunkett said: “Paul Scriven will be giving a keynote speech at the Lib Dems’ conference entitled ‘Sheffield: A Lib Dem Success Story’. “Sheffield is a success – but it is despite the Lib Dems, not because of them. “Locally and nationally, the Lib Dems are all over the place. While their leader flip-flops on everything from education to Trident, in Sheffield his colleagues are going back on their manifesto promises and refusing to listen to local people. “They are refusing to use government money to provide things like free swimming and help for families facing repossession – while at the same time complaining that government is depriving them of resources. “Worst of all, they have taken money away from the poorest communities of Sheffield and are redistributing it to better-off areas, regardless of need. No wonder one of their own councillors resigned this month, saying that the Lib Dems were using the money to try and get support from their target wards at the next General Election. “The last 12 months in Sheffield demonstrate exactly what the Lib Dems in local government looks like – a total shambles. No matter where the Lib Dems remain in power, people deserve better.” ENDS Notes to Editors 1. A copy of Evasions, U-turns and Broken Promises accompanies this release. You can download further copies from David Blunkett’s website at http://www.davidblunkett.org.

  5. Esme - there are 9 buttons at the bottom of the explanatory text. each button allows you to download a pdf file of expense claims. Good luck

  7. Thar't a scrawny-eyed, biscuit faced, triangle-headed wassock:hihi:
  8. Right on Munky! It's strange that we can smile when we see an advert on TV that shows hundreds of people dancing spontaneously in a train station but one inoffensive lady dancing and singing even evangelising about her god is somehow 'ready for the farm' - What is normal nowadays?
  9. She was outside Boots the chemist on High Street at 10am this morning with her boombox in a bag and was happily singing and dancing away. Oh to be so happy and carefree!!
  10. Them were the days eh, Atlex. We used to go once a week and have a couple of bottles of Mateus Rose with a very tasty tandoorie chicken dish. And you are right, Raul always responded to Ralph which most people called him. Happy days:)
  11. Interesting....is that a bicycle pump your aiming with in your avatar??
  12. Not strictly accurate!...the council have pulled the funding from the SREC - Sheffield Racial Equality Council and I'm sure they are not going to stop there. Watch this space!
  13. Surely Clive Betts will win Sheffield Attercliffe, which will be renamed "Sheffield South East". He is the sitting MP after all. David Blunkett will retain Sheffield Brightside, which will be renamed "Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough" Sheffield Hillsborough will cease to exist and will be divided up between surrounding constituencies. And as for the rest of the city..we'll wait and see.
  14. Sheffield is the 4th largest city in England. They said it is the 6th largest city in the UK - which is correct.
  15. As Clive Betts is a Sheffield MP it stands to reason that he should want to protect the interests of Sheffield first. Two major arenas 30 miles apart is just not feasible looking at the demographics of the two areas, especially in the midst of a credit crunch that may take many years to recover from.
  16. I wander if it's anything to do with hartley Brook Road post office being ram-raided last night...Police are bloody good if that's the case:)
  17. Hi, Ivy House/Cottage is on Nethershire Lane. Walk up from Hartley Brook shops towards Sicey Avenue on the left hand side and you will see it.
  18. Just a bit of fun this, but with a serious question attached. With all the uncertainties over how much of your savings you can claim back if the bank goes bust - currently about ÂŁ50,000. When I win the triple rollover and collect my cheque for ÂŁ15,000,000 , where on earth do I put it, there aren't enough banks to put ÂŁ50,000 in each. Do I buy the biggest bed imaginable or buy a bank on the cheap:hihi: Discuss...humerous suggestions only please:hihi:
  19. Bigwind..what's a Hypercite? a hypercite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered
  20. It's the 'The Chavs are getting off' clarion call:hihi:
  21. Well said Localman, This is just typical behaviour from a party that is too cocky for its own good. They think that taking the city from Labour for a second time in less than ten years means the city is theirs to do with as they please. The electorate won't stand for that kind of attitude as Labour have found to their cost:(
