  2. Can you send us a link to equity? Is it Equity Insurance? DJGuard have quoted INSTANT QUOTE INDICATOR per month**£18.17 per year £193 Sum insured: £5,000 Cover outside of insured location: 100% Voluntary excess: none Breakdown: Hire cover: yes In-vehicle: yes UK coverage: yes EU coverage: no Worldwide coverage: no Public Liability: 2million Personal Accident: £10,000.00 Is that reasonable or can i get the same type of cover for less? Paul
  3. The risks of booking a DJ without Public Liability Insurance Your DJ may be refused entry to the hotel / venue. If your DJ causes damage to property or individuals you may end-up being liable for the costs. Many hotels, corporate and large venues insist DJs are fully insured. If your DJ arrives to set-up on your big day and is unable to produce evidence of insurance, they may be refused entry. You can obviously imagine what a disaster that would be! What if the DJ causes damage through negligence, a guest trips over a speaker stand, or something worse happens? Remember, your big day will most likely be attended by your most important friends and family. If an accident were to happen and a claim pursued, its success will partly depend on whether you had hired an insured individual. Paul
  4. No! 'cos some places won't let you DJ without PLI..That's why! I have been booked to do a disco Friday night and just been informed by the establishment that i need to have PLI. Paul
  5. Have a DJ job on this Friday and need Public liability Insurance. Been told that Direct Line do a policy for about £30? Can any DJ's out there suggest a policy that would be suitable? Thanks Paul
  6. Does BPM Studio work on Vista? No mention of vista below! Operating Systems: Windows 95, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 98 Additional Requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP, 128MB RAM As for compatibility issues using software on vista, i disabled user account as you suggested but it made no difference. AV Mix Master still somes up with NET Framework JIT Debugger error. Paul
  7. The vehicle was left locked. Damage to one of the door locks has been noticed. I always lock my doors using the automatic key fob.
  8. I'd locked the vehicle but there's damage to one of the doors locks. Imran's is on Willey St NOT Weedon St...thanks for the mention I will change my post! Paul
  9. Expensive Southern Fried Chicken!!! All i can do is report it to police and forward my emails to another email address. I have had to change my passwords to Ebay and PayPal etc Very worrying? Paul
  10. Already enquired. It appears that Imran's has cctv in his car park and there used to be a camera at the end of willey st opposite imrans but not anymore. The wicker must have some? paul
  11. Abbeydale Grange was a respectful Grammer school and became a comprehensive school. I went between 1976-1981. It was a great school but has gone downhill from the early eighties. It is not the school it used to be and is almost 100% mutil cultural. This is not a racist comment but an honest fact. I have fond memories of the school but i am sad to see that it has gone the way it has. It wasn't perfect even when i was there but at least the kids had respect for the teachers and it was disciplined. I say, bring back caning and the slipper and detention. Paul
  12. rubbish. Of course Roscoe Drive is stannington. Dore and Fulwood are over 5 miles other side of Sheffield. My mum lived off Liberty Dr and that is bang next to roscoe drive and she lived in stannington. Anyway, the number 88 bus used to terminate at roscoe bank and that was always classed as stannington paul

  14. Great response lads. You've come up with some I had heard of and others not. Yesterday I tried Virtual DJ and didn't like it. I'm after something similar to AV Mixmaster which is a Jukebox application. I'm not into scratching but just want a simple straightforward jukebox player that i can search and queue up songs and play and when the song ends fade out and the next track fade in. BPM sync would be handy since AV Mixmaster does not have that facility. I heard about PCDJ Red and its supported multiple output for a multi channel sound card (Left deck out of front, right out of rear, or main out of right, and monitor out of rear) One of the probs with AV Mismaster is that you can't listen to the next track that you are cuing up or searching for whilst the other one is playing. so having that facility would also be handy. Might try BPM Studio. I will try the advice given by BRUNO regarding VISTA.Thanks It seems that you all use various software? BTW who are the guys who have the residency at the Holiday INN Rotherham. Lost there contact details and i'm sure they were using OTSAV when i last spoke to them. Anyway, any more suggestions gladly received. Cheers Paul
  15. thanks L U K A S. Any more DJ's out there who use any other Software? Paul
  16. Hi, Any DJ's out there who use DJ mixing software? What do you use? What would you recommend? Virtual DJ? OtsAv? I am using AV Mix Master version 2 and there is a version 3 (BETA 1) which I am having compatibility issues. Version 2 doesn't appear to work on VISTA so I tried the BETA 1 version 3 which is VISTA compatable. However, there is a JIT Debugger message that comes up regarding Net framework even though i have installed net framework 1.1 redistribution package and have the latest version of net framework 3.5. The developer of this program Ries Van Moorselaar had a website http://www.avsoft.nl which is now no more. His email also does not exist anymore so there is no technical support available even though the trial program is still available to download off the internet. Anyway, wanted to know which in your opinion is the best software to use? What are all you guys using? thanks Paul
  17. i think WOTSITS AND BRADLEY1983 have gone to beddy byes:wave:ahhhhhhhhh bless em Let's all wave night night:wave::wave::wave:
  18. GP - Cape Horn Medical Centre, Jefcock Rd, High Green, Sheffield Very good GP practice, only small, with two marvelous and understanding GP's Wood & Mahmood. Appointments taken first thing on the day from 0830am. I have never not been able to get an appointment when phoning. Paul
  19. Hi, had a prob last night with my grand cherokee differential. 1998 4 litre auto petrol. The dif became red hot and i had to stop as it was affecting the steering andthe smell was awful. Anyway, i guess it has no oil or very litte oil in it, but, now it has overheated could it have seriously damaged it? I was going to put some diff oil in it and run it and see but it did get seriously hot and now i think it may be damaged but not knowing the workings of a diff i have no idea. The good thing is that it hasn't seized up but will it work properly, and also, why has it lost it's oil? It could have been a slow leak but now the matter could be worse having run it on no oil? Any ideas anyone? Paul
  20. I'm after a cheap mot with free re-test. I hear that there is a place in kendry, barnsley doing mot for £25 with a free re-test. Anything like this in sheffield anyone? Paul
  21. You can't please everyone and there'll always be someone that either the music was too load or the the DJ never spoke and if he did we could not hear a damn word what he was saying. As DJ's you know that every gig is different and it's not just about having a set list of songs to play and your're sorted but being aware of the mood, age group and all that. If the DJ was suddenly taken ill what fail safe songs would almost certainly keep them dancing"? .........Dancing Queen, Billy Jean, Staying Alive, Come on Eilleen, YMCA. So there is a set list of fail-safe songs that will always get you out of trouble which is what the OP was asking based on say a wedding or mixed age group party. If the DJ has some ounce of personality he will be able to draw in the audience and this will encourage people to participate.
  22. The Manager really broke the ice and got the night off to a great start by him getting up on the dance floor with some lovely ladies. It was a really relaxed atmosphere and the men did eventually turn up. The DJ played some good music:thumbsup: It was it's first night at the Holiday Inn with over 100 turning up and next week will be even better because it is being advertised alot. Get yourselves down on Friday 13th March 8pm-1am and enjoy a great night-out.
  23. When The Music Stops has moved venues and is now at Holiday Inn, West Bawtry Rd, Rotherham every Friday 8pm - 1am. There is a thread already started by Millsands under "singles Night". You can locate the thread by following this link... http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=462793&highlight=singles+night Last Night there were over 100 turned up and a great night with great music played by the DJ. Cummon Guys it's heaving with women!!!! D
  24. Some good songs! If you were DJ and were playing to a wide audience like at a wedding then what would be the guaranteed failsafe list of songs to get the majority up on the dance floor? Diezel
