  1. I don't know and I don't care, what fictional Forest Gump would say!!! My friend usually takes a taxi and has been told time and time again not to go on London Rd late at night on his own, but that still does not condone what his attackers did to a vulnerable person. Sadly, we do have to take precautions nowadays, but London Rd appears to be getting VERY bad indeed. The police need to seriously step things up, because it's getting all out of hand down there.
  2. Does anybody know if the buses are running today and if so are they running a Sunday service? Thanks.
  3. A friend of mine, who is disabled - paraliysed down one side and walks with the aid of a stick, was attacked and mugged on London Road, close to the Lloyds Chemist, the other morning, 31st December, sometime after 1am. He had taken some money out of the Post Office cash machine and then walked down to buy food and cigarettes at Ozmens 24hr shop opposite the Cremorne pub. As he came out of the shop, there were several young boys, aged around 14, who then confronted him, as he walked over the road towards Lloyds chemist. He was knocked to the ground and his stick was then used to hit him by those demanding money off of him. They took £200, all his shopping, his walking stick and even his disabled bus pass and left him lying on the floor whilst walking away laughing. They had dragged him down Harwood Close, where they mugged him. He has been to hospital and has sustained nasty badly bruised lashings to his back all the way down. He thought he had also broken his arm, but x-rays have shown otherwise. I just would like to warn everyone to be very very careful on London Road and it's surrounding roads, at night or in the early hours of the morning. If at all possible do not use the cash machines to draw money out, as my friend believes that these young lads had seen him taking money out of the cash machine prior to mugging him. He said that they hide behind the post box on Woodhead Rd and also some hide down an alleyway at the bottom of Sharrow Lane, just in-between the old Natwest building and the barbers shop. They apparently wait and look for vulnerable people using the Post Office cash machine. I will be letting the police know about this incident.
  4. I think you ought to check out this, before you make catty comments like you have felt the need to. http://auroraentertainments.wix.com/disco#! Millsands you are correct.
  5. What I find REALLY annoying is Look North's Weather forecast. I know Look North is for Yorkshire, but why can't they include in their forecasts what the weather will be like on the Lincolnshire coast, which is closer to the likes of Sheffield and Chesterfield, than Scarborough etc? I once complained to Look North about this and they said that those in far West Yorkshire could as much want to know what the weather will be like on the West coast say near Blackpool and if they did it for one they would have to do it for the other. But Paul Hudson actually stands to the left of the chart and you could very easily find out what the weather is going to be like in say Blackpool, so their forecasts do show the weather behind him coming in from the west most of the time. The Lincolnshire version of Look North funnily shows the weather for Sheffield, but Look North Leeds doesn't show the weather for Lincoln. Surely it wouldn't be at all difficult to include the weather for Skeggy, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes in their forecasts for all those in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, for that matter, who are closer to that coast for when they wish to know what the weather is going to be like if they want a trip to the sea-side. I think Look North's weather is letting down the people further south in the region.
  6. I have a PYE PDV560VR video/DVD player that requires repairing (if at all possible.) Would anyone know or recommend anywhere in Sheffield that repairs these machines. I think the machine might be repairable rather than having to buy another. Thanks
  7. I know a great dj, with a fabulous set-up, who will play exactly what you want. He's also available over the Christmas and New Year period, as he has just got back off his hols. You can contact him at: [email protected]. You wont be disappointed.
  8. Just don't pay your council tax. My bin was not emptied for some pathetic reason so I cancelled my Direct debit and missed a few months council tax payments before resuming my direct debit and paying the arrears back over the following year. We all have a job to do and if bin men want to be Knob heads and refuse to collect waste on a fortnightly collection then in my eyes it's just pathetic. If we pay our council tax then we deserve a job doing well. If they don't like the job then they should let someone else do it. They get paid enough!!!
  9. Good place to park is Paradise Sq behind the Cathedral. Free car parking!!
  10. And do taxi fares double/triple in price on Eid like they do on Christmas Day?

  12. I agree, The food is good that's why I go but the attitude of some of the staff is appalling. At weekends, they say they cannot handle restaurant and take away at the same time and I was appalled at their rude response to a complaint I had with my take away order. I was told "what do you expect when ordering take away on a busy Saturday." We arrived and politely greeted the owner, Peter who just ignored us and then was greeted by a very unfriendly chinese women who took our order and we asked if we could have some free Prawn Crackers by which she never responded but took our order with no please or thank you. Whilst waiting for our order I decided to add a few more items so I went to place my extra order and was told in a very nasty manner that my order had already been placed and was already being prepared. I raised my concerns to her in the way she had spoken to me and made it known to Peter the owner who was standing close by. Neither of them were able or even willing to deal with the situation and refused any admission of fault or give any apology. On arriving home with my order I was appalled at the portion size and condition of the chips which were just a soggy and greasy mass. Also, there were no prawn crackers. The food is very expensive, so you'd expect what you pay for which this just wasn't. So, I phoned them and spoke to the women who had taken my order and when asked what she was going to do to rectify my order and resolve my complaint I was given the reply "nothing". I asked to speak to Peter who said they do not give free prawn crackers and that coming at the weekend was a bad time for take away and what do you expect for coming at a weekend. He said that too many people ask for free this and free that and that he was trying to run a business. I assumed that all chinese offer free prawn crackers on orders say over £10 and was not trying to get free this and free that. He said that I had caught his staff member on a bad day but gave no apology or offer of replacement. He was not at all forth coming and only at a last resort he said I could either return the entire order for a full refund or he would see me right next time I came during the week. He showed no admittance of fault and thought it acceptable to place the reason for what had happened as a result of ordering take away at a weekend. I said that whatever time of the week should make no difference in the service you get especially as the prices are the same. Anyway, bad service is not expected whatever the time and good service should be always be strived for. If they can't can't cope with take away orders at weekends then they should not do it. I drive all the way from sheffield to get a chinese and get that sort of attitude is just unacceptable. Take away customers pay upfront but if i'd have been sat in the restaurant and had a complaint then i'm sure their attitude would have been a little different otherwise i'd have not paid the bill until they had sorted out my complaint to my satisfaction. It has really put me off going there ever again.

  17. Any Jeep Mechanics out there? I own a 2001 4.7 litre auto Jeep Grand cherokee. It is showing P0700 error code amongst others. The vehicle from cold starts Ok and drives fine until all of a sudden whilst driving will suddenly act-up and when it does the vehicle will not go above 60mph. At 60mph any more pressure on the throttle pedal causes the vehicle to jerk/rock back and forth. The strange thing is that when everything is OK and the vehicle is not doing any of this I have noticed that the gear selector light that illuminates the gear selector does not illuminate but as soon as the gearbox acts-up the gear selector light suddenly comes on and illuminates the selector panal. Whilst the problem is like this the vehicle will not travel over 60mph and is very difficult to start the engine once the ignition is turned off. Can take 5 mins of cranking the engine turning the ignition key before the engine will fire up. I initially thought it might be the crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor or throttle position sensor but now wonder if it could be the transmission control module or electronic shifter module? What do you think could be the problem? Much appreciated

Once you're inside you'll be ok and hopefully someone with a twinkle in their eye wil take your mind off it! Will there be other people of my age group, a good mix of guys and gals? - There wasn't a bad mix last time, but the best way to ensure potential dates suitable for you to come along is to help promote the event.
