  1. I am no longer a tenant of this organisation, but am interested in finding out what other tenants feel about, in particular, the Westfield Terrace office in Sheffield. I am particularly interested in tenants who have had problems with anti-social behaviour, and who do not feel that Guinness Northern Counties have taken their complaints seriously enough. Note: Votes are not set to public, so will NOT display users who voted, and what choice they voted for.
  2. thanks for all the comments and suggestions. As the car drives forward I assumed that the fluid would be fine but I will still check 'cos it may still be relevant. The only place I know locally is Jeepers Keepers on Callywhite lane. The owner actually has a Chrysler Voyager so he may be the best port of call. Thanks everyone!! ---------- Post added 21-12-2014 at 13:06 ---------- Thanks Member. Just hope its just a straight-forward linkage problem or faulty solenoid. Diezel ---------- Post added 21-12-2014 at 16:57 ---------- Checked the transmission and the levels are OK. What could have happened? Lessen learned don't reverse up a steep incline
  3. HELP!! I was reversing my 1999 3.3 litre Chrysler Grand Voyager up a steep inclined driveway when suddenly it lost transmission. I immediately stopped the car and left it for a few hours thinking it had just overheated. It drives forward with NO problems but later that same day when I came to park the vehicle it would not move in reverse gear???? What have I done to it and is there anywhere local to Sheffield that can fix it? and how much is this likely to cost? I have not checked the transmission fluid level but assume that if it still goes forward then that's not the issue Any help/advise on this much appreciated. thanks Diezel
  4. Is this at the old Handsworth WMC on Handsworth Rd?

Thanks for response handyman1996 ---------- Post added 21-05-2014 at 11:43 ---------- Phoned Southey Green Garage and they recommended Twigg's.
  6. My clutch has just gone and i'm stuck nr Manor Top and not in AA/RAC etc. Any recommendations for reasonable recovery anyone of my vehicle? Thanks.
  7. Hi Audrey, I don't know whether you have resolved your probs with GNC, but I have just come across this thread and would like to say that I too am having major problems with Guinness Northern Counties. I am currently in the process of taking them to the Housing Ombudsman because GNC at Westfield Terrace in Sheffield, are literally preventing me from accessing their internal complaints procedure, refusing to even acknowledge there is a complaint in. I have been to the organisation Shelter, and they too have been a complete joke. I have had to leave my home due to violent threatening behaviour from my neighbour and I am too scared to continue living there. My home has also major sound insulation problems on top of the anti-social behaviour issues I have been experiencing with my neighbour. Environmental Services have conducted a sound test and have found the property to be poorly sound proofed. Northern Counties are still recieving rent on the property, but refuse to allow me access to their complaints procedure or assist in a priority transfer. They are also refusing to do anything about the sound insulation at the property. I am having to live temporarily at my parents, who are both in their 80's, and I just don't know where to turn next apart from seeking help from the Ombudsman. I have lost my independance and my health has been affected by all the problems I have been encountering over the past 3 and a half years.
  8. I've contacted HA before on other areas and they don't respond. The problem we have here is that we don't utilize all the lanes available. One prime example, is Jnct 33 M1 Sheffield Parkway. Traffic leaving the motorway @ J33 southbound are directed into the right hand lane on approach to the r/bout as they all want to enter the Sheffield Parkway. This however, causes a dangerous tailback backing onto the M1 creating congestion and stationary traffic build up. The easy solution would be to allow traffic wanting to exit at Sheffield Parkway to use both lanes of M1 exit slip road and r/bout. Some drivers, me being one can see this and instead of waiting in the right hand lane drive down the left lane and indicate right which causes no problem since the other lane just use the inside lane of the r/bout leaving the the outermost empty and unused. This can be seen on many r/bouts where using both lanes alows for turning right at the 3rd exit. All that needed is someone with a bit of white paint and an arrow painting. This again is what's happening at J36 where traffic going straight on clog up the left hand lane when they could use both lanes allowing more traffic to get through whilst the lights are at green. It needs signs saying 'use both lanes' The problem at Jnt 33 happens everyday and traffic builds up causing dangerous conditions on the M1 but HA does nothing about it apart from Matrix signs coming up warning people of congestion which is not the right way to go about it.
  9. Planner1 you really are living on a different planet!!! Do you actually drive a car!!! Do you sit in traffic at rush-hour staring at empty roundabouts and traffic lights that are green for 5 secs!!! You seriously need to get out there and see for yourself!!!
  10. S7 is in and around CarterKnowle Rd, Bannercross, brincliffe edge, Nether Edge. Peter Fenwick sadly passed away a few years ago and back in the early 80's created a musical called "Triumph in the Church" performed by Sheffield House Church. I am trying to get hold of the production that was on tape but have had no success. Ellyfen his daughter has messaged me but i've not heard back from her. I have sent her a message but no response. There must be someone out there from Sheffield House Church that has a tape knocking about!!!
  11. Totally agree!!!There was no queue before so what was the benefit. The lights don't stay on green long enough hence why the tailback every rushhour. Get the lights fixed!!! ---------- Post added 13-11-2013 at 21:49 ---------- Totally agree on this one!!! Ecclesall Rd at Waitrose r/bout prime example!!! Give me the job and i'd sort the lot out!!! ---------- Post added 13-11-2013 at 21:55 ---------- Planner is this what you do for a living 'cos if it is then listen up people are fed up of your wasted money schemes that do nothing to help traffic. Do these planners not understand the flow of traffic. Really, the mind boggles as I could do the job better myself. I'd sack the lot and actually get out there amongst the drivers during rush hour so I get the full picture of what drivers have to put up with evry day to and from work. Get Ecclesall Rd r'bout sorted and Leapings Ln/Halifax Rd sorted and University R'bout sorted!!!
  12. Elyfen1972 I have PM'd you but just in case you can send me PM me back as I now accept messages. Thanks Paul
  13. :help:Does anyone have Triumph in the Church, Sheffield House Churches production that was written and produced by the late Peter Fenwick. The musical was staged at Sheffield City Hall back in the early 80's and the recording of it is now out of circulation, but I wondered if anyone has it on tape and wouldn't mind sending me a copy or I would be happy to purchase it. Paul:thumbsup:
  14. Pastor, Cleddie Keith, from Kentucky, USA, will be speaking at The City Life Christian Church, on Shalesmoor, tonight. Everyone welcome. Starts: 7:30pm No Charge, Free to Everyone! City Life Christian Church, 1 South Parade, Shalesmoor, Sheffield, S3 8SS Phone: 0114 272 8243 http://www.citylifecc.com/ ---------- Post added 21-02-2013 at 17:37 ---------- Just to add, that I last saw Cleddie Keith, in Sheffield, back in the mid-eighties, when he came to Carver Street Chapel. He is a wonderful man and I remember him to this very day.
  15. Which period would this have been, Kerry? I ask the question about The Brampton Mile, after someone mentioned The Eccles Mile, in a local pub and said there were about 26 pubs on it, Eccles that is. I googled the "Eccles Mile" and there were no links to it at all, but "The Brampton Mile" was mentioned in loads of places. Could the BM have held the record for the most pubs within a mile stretch?
  16. Would anybody know how many pubs there were in it's hey day, on the legendary Brampton Mile in Chesterfieldand how many are there to this day?
  17. I am speaking with Conrad, as I type this post. He is amazed that he is on the web and he has given me permission to pass his details onto you. I shall private message you his contact details.
  18. It's just that it's facebook page refers to it as a "Genting's Club". ---------- Post added 03-02-2013 at 12:42 ---------- So, if it is a casino, that means we have two within a stones throw of each other, with the other on the corner of Charles Street and Arundel Gate!
  19. Can someone explain what this venue is all about? It's all a bit fuzzy on their facebook page. Is it a gentlemen's club come casino?
  20. I agree, but it shouldn't be like this. I suppose it's the age we live in, but again it SHOULDN'T have to be this way. We should all be able to walk the streets at night, within reason, and not expect this to happen to us, like what happened to my friend.
  21. My friend has sad that he thinks that he has seen these kids before on Club Garden Rd and they probably live in the flats. ---------- Post added 01-01-2013 at 20:36 ---------- Could older ones be getting kids to do the attacks for them? Is it a lesser risk? If the police do catch those responsible, then what can the law do with a 14 year-old? It's just a thought.
  22. I think it should be VERY easy to catch these villians because I would be extremely surprised if they haven't done this before. I feel that there is just not enough police patrols in the area, especially in the early hours when these incidents seem more likely to occur. I spoke to an asian taxi driver, who told me that there was an incident earlier this year, I think, where someone was severely attacked around the bottom of Club Garden Road (close to London Rd.) Those that attacked this person apparently placed a black bin liner over their head and then just for the hell of it, beat them up. They didn't steal anything, apparently, just beat them up, for what seemed like just for the hell of it. The area is not safe at all and the police surely need to tackle what to me seems like a very unsafe place to be venturing at night and in the early hours of a morning. I bet Pitsmoor is now a safer area, than London Rd and it's surrounding area.
  23. I don't know and I don't care, what fictional Forest Gump would say!!! My friend usually takes a taxi and has been told time and time again not to go on London Rd late at night on his own, but that still does not condone what his attackers did to a vulnerable person. Sadly, we do have to take precautions nowadays, but London Rd appears to be getting VERY bad indeed. The police need to seriously step things up, because it's getting all out of hand down there.
  24. Does anybody know if the buses are running today and if so are they running a Sunday service? Thanks.
  25. A friend of mine, who is disabled - paraliysed down one side and walks with the aid of a stick, was attacked and mugged on London Road, close to the Lloyds Chemist, the other morning, 31st December, sometime after 1am. He had taken some money out of the Post Office cash machine and then walked down to buy food and cigarettes at Ozmens 24hr shop opposite the Cremorne pub. As he came out of the shop, there were several young boys, aged around 14, who then confronted him, as he walked over the road towards Lloyds chemist. He was knocked to the ground and his stick was then used to hit him by those demanding money off of him. They took £200, all his shopping, his walking stick and even his disabled bus pass and left him lying on the floor whilst walking away laughing. They had dragged him down Harwood Close, where they mugged him. He has been to hospital and has sustained nasty badly bruised lashings to his back all the way down. He thought he had also broken his arm, but x-rays have shown otherwise. I just would like to warn everyone to be very very careful on London Road and it's surrounding roads, at night or in the early hours of the morning. If at all possible do not use the cash machines to draw money out, as my friend believes that these young lads had seen him taking money out of the cash machine prior to mugging him. He said that they hide behind the post box on Woodhead Rd and also some hide down an alleyway at the bottom of Sharrow Lane, just in-between the old Natwest building and the barbers shop. They apparently wait and look for vulnerable people using the Post Office cash machine. I will be letting the police know about this incident.
