  1. Hi, is anyone else’s broadband still down since yesterday? TIA
  2. Does anybody remember a car showroom on Abbeydale Road around 1982 selling them new?
  3. Correct - this was his house back then which is currently on the market. I remember his yellow chequer cab well as I once drew it whenI was a kid for a competition he ran in his restaurant, and I won! We used to regularly go there for a burger in the 1980's! Great memories https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-70874791.html
  4. Couldn't agree more! Keep out the riff raf and crime from migrating over the border into Derbyshire!
  5. Wrong forum to be a pedant as Dronfield is a town in Derbyshire and not actually anything to do with Sheffield. It never has been and hopefully never will be. Yes, we have an 'S' postcode, but so does Chesterfield, Hope Valley, Clay Cross, Worksop and many other places which aren't in Yorkshire too! Fact! However, to clarify, the Coal Aston boundary starts at the top of Green Lane, and Holmley Lane, so anywhere on the Snape Hill estate is categorically in Dronfield, not Coal Aston. Hope this helps
  6. Thanks folks - just found this on another local history forum... "1893 Kelly's Tedbar J Tinker Farmer and Quarryman - The Grange Bradway"
  7. Always intrigued me, but where did 'Tinker's Corner' at Bradway get its nickname from and when?
  8. I'm sure these photos will bring back a few memories..... https://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/misc-sites/36254-sheffield-april-june-2018-a.html#.Wx-thSAnaUk
  9. Dronfield is a town in its own right in the county of Derbyshire, not a suburb of Sheffield contrary to some people's beliefs! Unfortunately we have a Sheffield postcode, but so do Chesterfield, Hope Valley and places even further afield and they're not suburbs of Sheffield either. just saying! ---------- Post added 22-03-2018 at 12:25 ---------- Anyway; back on subject. Just don't shop there!
  10. The surface of the moon is better than Archer Road and Warminster Road! Despicable!
  11. Charming - bit of an arrogant narrow minded claim! Us Dronfeldians don't want to be part of Sheffield anyway! Sheffield has tried integrating us on more than one occasion, you must want something from us, but we're happy to stay firmly in Derbyshire thanks!
  12. Buyer Beware.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/money-saving-tips/10711419/iPhone-5s-for-150-at-fast-sale-auctions.html
  13. Dronfield is in Derbyshire, always has been and hopefully that is where we will stay! A lot of folk class Dronfield as being in Sheffield, where as they couldn't be more wrong. Yes Dronfield has a Sheffield "S" postcode, but so does Chesterfield, Hope Valley, and Hathersage all having a Sheffield postcode and are also firmly in Derbyshire which in fact is classed as the "East Midlands". Dronfield isn't a suburb of Sheffield, it is in fact a town in its own right. Just wanted to clear this up :-)
  14. I'd highly recommend Sheffield Auction Gallery next to Heeley Retail park - http://www.sheffieldauctiongallery.com They are likely to get you the best price possible over Dowse to be honest; due to the fact that they have live auctions on-line and have a bigger global audience because of this and also that they punch a weight or two over Dowse in terms of the stuff which is generally auctioned.
