My earliest memorys were of living on Well road as i was born there. We used to live in the old houses next door to my dads mum and dad Ethel and Walter until the houses were pulled down and one of my earliest memorys is of my mum talking to my gran over the wall. I still remember my mum coming home with me and being fascinated by a stream of water running down the yard. Someone had stolen the pipes in our outdoor loo and left the seat hanging on the cistern. We moved out shortly afterwards and went to live on the Arbourthorne. Up till recently a picture of my grandad in the fishing team still hung in the Shakespeare inn. Its odd the things you remember. I can still recall Taggys ice cream and Mr Phillips butchers. If anyone remembers my grandfather Walt Hawley or grandmother Ethel please feel free to get in touch

Don't go into these rip off merchants. As was covered in the Star a few weeks back you will end up paying 65 quid for a bin liner full of cheap crap. Its a scam and not even a particularly elegant one at that because they use bully boy tactics and never actually say what the goods you are buying are. Why the council doesn't shut them down i don't know

There were a bunch of lads who hung around outside my house until recently. I had no occasion to go out to them until one night i saw a cloud of smoke outside the wall. Thinking they had set fire to something i went out and challenged the ring leader with a few choice words. He started acting tough but when he saw he was in real danger of getting a kicking from an adult and his mates weren't going to help him he resorted to shouting "I'll tell my dad". Ah still warms the cockles of my heart now.
