  1. Round corners were built to prevent cattle from injuring themselves when being herded through a town or village. There are numerous examples in most old towns.
  2. Round Corners were built on many old inns to protect cattle from sharp corners when passing the building. Many years ago cattle would have been driven through the town.
  3. William and Minnie Pennington were the children of Henry and Ada Pennington who were milliners living at 34 Wilson Rd Sheffield in 1901. They moved to Scarborough but I can find no trace of William's ( born circa 1893 William Harry ) death. Can anyone remember him in Sheffield 1948-50's? He may have been a publican or associated trade.
  4. You need to visit a local archives in the area where your ancestor lived as they have the old deposited parish registers for that area, usually microfilmed.
  5. Please can anyone tell me if this property still exists. I can't find Sheffield Moor on the map. It used to be a hat shop I believe in 1911. Any information gratefully accepted.
  6. I am searching for relatives of William Harry ( or Henry ) Pennington who died at 10 Manor Park Place, Manor Park in August 1960. His occupation was given as retired licensed victualler. Any help gratefully accepted as that is all I know apart from his wife may have been Elizabeth or any name starting with E. Also he may have worked in Grimsby in 1940 and then moved to Scarborough around 1943. He may also have spent time in India prior to 1940. Janet Clarke
  7. Please can anyone recall William Henry Pennington who may have died in 1960. I am hoping to contact a member of his family. William may have been involved in the brewery/ licensing trade. Janet
  8. Searching for any information about William Henry Pennington who was the manager of the Grimsby Mineral Water Company in 1939. He may have spent some time in India in earlier years. He may have died in 1960 in Sheffield, but I do not know if he is buried there, or if he had a family. Any help greatly appreciated. Janet in Grimsby
