  1. So thats told the Burger Company. I'm sure they are quaking in their boots at all this free publicity they are getting. I understand people are angry about the names of these burgers. One of my friends protested outside but surely the best solution is to send them to Coventry. All this is achieving is free publicity for a Burger Company. https://www.thestar.co.uk/our-towns-and-cities/sheffield/sheffield-council-tells-restaurant-to-remove-offensively-named-burgers-1-9479603?fbclid=IwAR0IQBFULAiSvAbbhrdwMx5YHErh0664QG37hGC5-ctUvLxRU8zXOxJB9o4
  2. Exactly I've seen the photo and its not something disimillar that you see from the Sun Newspaper to be honest.
  3. Interesting news article today. Bit of a silly mistake if you ask me. Having seen the "offending picture". Its something you can get online anyway. I'm more concerned with him using a council phone for this material rather than the picture itself. https://www.thestar.co.uk/our-towns-and-cities/sheffield/sheffield-councillor-suspended-for-sending-inappropriate-photo-to-women-s-group-during-council-meeting-1-9478993
  4. Well I thought that but its worth doing just to give them some work to do. As presumably they will still have to respond and address everyone's comments, even though they will do naff all about them.
  5. Latest consultation has been launched. Get typing your twopeneth worth. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/your-city-council/budget-spending.html
  6. I wonder if any ideas come out of this conference? Or will it just be another glorified talking shop. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-46428360
  7. I agree. I dont buy Christmas Cards. I dont see the point. For my work colleagues I put sweets on a pod. They go down well and everyone is happy.
  8. I am an athiest. If someone sent me a happy Eid Card or a Christmas Card or even a Happy Hanukkah card I would not be offended in the slightest. I would be pleased that they thought of me. to be honest. I dont send cards out myself not because i dont believe but because I see them as a waste. At work I will bring a box of sweets instead (they go down much better). However I certainly wouldnt be offended by recieving one.
  9. Saw a dealer take money from the homeless guy outside the former a Yorkshire bank next to Fitzallan Square tram stop. So blatantly too. And people are shocked why we have no compassion when they spend the money they get on drugs and have the cheek to ask us for it.
  10. The only solution to the problem is to not give them any money but offer food drink etc instead. A genuine person would accept that help with open arms those that are not will not. Also it will mean the money doesn't inadvertently get spent on drink and drugs.
  11. I'm not perpetuating any myth. I am stating facts. Someone wrote a blog about their time doing the outreach in the city centre and every person they met refused to accept offer of help. One bloke said that he couldnt walk home it was too far. Well aside from the obvious question of how the heck did he get to the city centre in the first place surely if he had asked for a lift home they would have offered him transport rather than let him stay on the streets. The council and charities themselves are asking people not to give money to beggars as it means they dont take up the offers of help thats available. You see it in the city centre. We have a large number of charities all saying the same thing do you think they are lying and "perpetuating a myth".
  12. Looks like Tent City has gone back up in Park Hill https://www.facebook.com/shefftentcity/posts/2230296700586102?__xts__[0]=68.ARBaR_cQ1mraD6DXLVn-vn7wp_HvvL0tvG1gpXPoBiFLlTtHCDGfiLPO6ikiZXG2Nf6ccDQOLX7ddzz5092BiulALmWgNlL5lNCxkCvNsNiwY8bwGZ9cEg_EYSJ_-ESS44sOUI63vKqPaDHWRrVimnCSs30IXx61wNtbSLDYJhoRPgPeddMrXJ3PJo6SJjXShRFi-ImJI0bdqXOWPCwUqey2UqZ23lP2aCRO8mTUZbQRfOxtwEzEL7GBHllSdYIyfyONtKHqb2ON34s5q1gfqBy7GzZoC2Ir5CcdIXImyQYKOEFnjDoBe9dlgY4SPfoOHR5rT-kMPO3V9rAj40lSw5URsYBi&__tn__=-R
  13. I get angry not because they don't want to engage with society but they take up valuable resources that could be for someone else. They take up A&E time and resources which could be for your elderly relative thats had a fall (whose paid into the system his or her whole life). We spend all this money on charity only to get the usual criticism from people saying the council or we as a society are not doing enough when clearly they are doing all they can. I get angry at the anti social behaviour associated with these people and their substance addictions. Whenever you dare criticise them you get the usual "There by the grace of god " or what if you were walking in their shoes well they have been offered help and selfishly refused to take it so yes I am very angry at that, Mr Tent city himself is setting up a new camp soon and often goes on Facebook slating services and charties who work damn hard in difficult circumstances dealing with people who are not willing to help themselves. So no if they simply lived outside society I wouldnt have a problem with it. Its the problems they cause and the refusal to help themselves that gets me mad when it takes up valuable resource for vulnerable people who need the help and are prepared to accept it. I can see his situation but he is the exception that proves the rule. There are plenty on the streets that are not in this situation as the blog suggests. They are offered help but refuse it. Do you not think if Help us Help met up with Steve they would mention his reason for not going home and people would have sympathy. Unlike the person outside the station that's got a home but just begging to make money and praying on peoples sympathy.
  14. If you didnt get angry before then read thsi and you will. This is from a genuine outreach team that is helping those on the streets. They have all been offered help but chose not to accept it. This makes me so angry: http://www.helpushelp.uk/blog/our-outreach-teams-out-on-the-streets-daily?fbclid=IwAR1fyN53Id93RLXAoucQFUoN3RLcgAVWZt3e6uwvHm0JgSgF76KXnFjmGio
  15. Will he do as much work as he did previously. He cant do any less.
  16. Well if any more evidence was needed as to why Johnston Press are going under. You just need to read this high quality journalism. Well I felt really well informed after reading this. https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/police-spotted-in-sheffield-city-centre-home-were-carrying-out-enquiries-as-part-of-ongoing-investigation-1-9068734?fbclid=IwAR2pRJ8r9H6thv0o3aKMbYo8UkaqiY3LDkIUrnacATpZNsX8RoUElm-YWFY
  17. I'm not desperate to give a child a good hiding. I just get frustrated when they scrapped a perfectly good system of discipline and the net result is what we have now. So instead of medical advice, support safe spaces and anything else snowflakes come up with why not think about reintroducing something that worked. If it isnt broke why did they try to fix it?
  18. So you would not support corporal punishment because it was abused. Should we stop other punishments because they are abused as well. Thats the problem. Stop and search was abused so we stopped that. Corporal punishment was abused so we stopped that and the net result is problems. Surely the solution is to stop something being abused by a small minority and carry on with it.
  19. But why shouldnt corporal punishment be brought back. From everyone that went through the system tells me it worked. So why not bring it back.
  20. But did we have this problem when corporal punishment was around in school or when parents used to smack children to prevent them from being idiots. All this support medical help seems ridiculous. We never had this problem back in the day so why is it an issue now?
  21. Spot on. And also maybe a good hiding would solve these "behavioral difficulties".
  22. Your right of course. They could be fine upstanding pillars of the community working a decent job bringing up their families. Hapily trundling into the car carefully following the speed limit and highway code and it was all a freak accident.
  23. They were wanted. Here is the article https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/brothers-charged-over-sheffield-horror-crash-that-killed-four-appear-at-court-1-9440515 What more information do you need?
  24. And obviously they missed all the posts from the police the Sheffield Star and various other people on Facebook and twitter etc saying they were wanted criminals.
