  1. My dad was in the homes from 1929 to around 1943, when he then went onto a farm in Derbyshire to work. He told some tales about life there, usually involving him getting into trouble over something! Thinkit was a hard time for them, with no love or affection from the older generation. His name was Gordon Rowe , passed away 3 years ago.
  2. Another vote for Mr Pickles and Bardwells

  5. We are farmers on the route and will be totally blocked in for the duration of the race. All credit to those that are running the race ,but it would be nice to get at least a letter informing us about the race , and some understanding from the organisers of how we will need to get a vet in quickly if an emergency arises with any of our cattle or sheep
  6. Anyone know of a mobile gents hairdresser for elderly housebound father? Thanks!
  7. My father was in fulwood homes from around 1929 until 1943,has many memories of his time there his names Gordon Rowe ,hes now 86.Believe his 2 older brothers might also have been there, but he lost contact with them nearly 60 years, ago.
  8. Not particularly anything against the cycle ride, problem for us is that the route for agricultural tractors and large loads of straw etc from the south west of Sheffield (top of A625) across to the A61 at Barnsley is effectively shut for 5 hours tomorrow- we're busy fetching straw from arable farms in that area to our mainly stock farm on the edge of Sheffield!! Hunters bar roundabout being the crucial link onto the A57/A61. Think there might be a couple of tractors and trailers battling through the more residential area as this has GOT to be done tomorrow.
  9. Hi Daven-that's me! Still trying to work out who you are though!
