  1. We went there on Wednesday. Food is nice enough, but the service was terrible. It took them 3 hours to serve us 3 courses - we were kept waiting AGES between courses. They'd also run out of several things on the menu. One person from our table said he had the same experience with slow service a fortnight ago...and his main course arrived cold! I've always recommended Strada but now I am starting to worry...
  2. Does anyone know of a guitar teacher in the Walkley/Crookes area? I am a complete beginner by the way!
  3. For anyone in S10/S6 considering Creative Interiors: Things you need to know! 1. The goods will be top spec, the fitters (esp. Kevin) are good but : 2. Do not give them the final installment of the money until the very end of the job! They are hugely unreliable so you have to chase them constantly and if you have kept some of the money back you will have a lot more success. 2. Be very clear about what they will provide re: the certification for the electrics. We chased them for 8 months to get the documentation - had to threaten to take them to court in the end. Curiously, they never came to do the test themselves, they paid for a firm to come round and do a periodic test. They say they are 'Part P compliant' - don't let them get away with it! In the end we were happy with what we got...but it was all very stressful and not the 'service' we thought we were paying for. I'd say do business with them, but make sure YOU are in control! Poppet
  4. We have always been very pleased with Glenmill (Walkley and Spital Hill).
  5. We own an ex-racer (adopted through RGT at Owlerton). I know there are problems in the industry but there are some positive outcomes which need highlighting. Ours retired a little early at 3 years old due to an injury. When we went to the kennels we were treated fabulously - the staff talked to us about what we were looking for and what our home life was like. We were able to take a dog to try for the weekend which was great (of course, she never left!). As part of the adoption process we were given a lead, collar, coat and some free insurance, plus she came spayed and innoculated. All in all, it was the most organised and responsible system of acquiring a pet I can think of! Ours is a genuine example of how well these dogs can be treated by the owners and trainers. We take her back to the training kennels sometimes and as soon as she sees the staff she jumps up on them, thrilled to see them. She is a fabulously soppy, loving dog and she still loves to run (fast, too, the other day she was running in a field and took my legs out from beneath me at about 25mph). When she runs with us, the look on her face and the position of her tail is exactly like the dogs at the track - I just cannot believe they are not happy. A night out at the dogs is fun. Don't be afraid of only putting bets of 50p or £1 on - why not!!? Do give the RGT guys some time (and spare change) - they work really hard and need support.
  6. Sounds nice... ...but I have to say we were put off a little recently when we were given a flyer which was absolutely riddled with spelling mistakes! Not really the image you are trying to create I suppose? Still, I think I might give it a try!
  7. We had them do our bathroom. The business side of things is a shambles. They promised us a start date of early June and finally showed up (when threatened with a termination of contract) in mid-August. This was bad, and what made it worse was that their communication is terrible - we were given start date after start date and we always had to chase! Having said that, the work itself is actually very good - we had a fitter called Kevin (not to be confused with Kevin the designer) do most of the fitting and he is very good indeed (polite, tidy, takes pride in his work). Also, the quality of the goods installed is excellent and exactly what we wanted. The only other gripe I have is the attitude of Vaughan, the works manager. He is a bully and he is rude. My advice is to be clear from the outset what you expect from them. Stay on top of them - telephone the moment it looks like they are waivering. If possible, have someone in the house most days (the fitters will need to ask you questions as they get poor info from the shop). Also, negotiate payment on YOUR terms. We held back more than half of the bill until after completion of the job - best thing we EVER did! They will try and get most of it on the start-date...our advice is keep your money until you are satisfied!! They are supposed to be coming today to issue our electrical certificates. Its November! I'll be amazed if they show...we've already been stood up twice! EDIT: Guess what? They didn't show.

  9. Ours is a greyhound too, so that is attractive advice ! I'll look into this one but it is quite a distance from us - I had hoped for something a little closer. Thanks - will let you know what I decide!
