I am going there on Friday (it's near Sheffield moderator person so almosty counts) and was wondering what to expect. i.e. is there anywhere that'll play non dance music? Anything other than dance or opera will be fine. Also I would like to wear trainers but (not sure if they were extracting the pee or not) am told that Barnsley is a bit 1992 and you need to wear trousers, shoes and shirts to get into lots of places. Will I get into enough places with my trainers or not?

The city is full of dance, all rubbish. Not sure if any of it is hard dance but doesn't really matter.

To the Dev Arms man, yes it falls on a Wednesday but I was thinking of having a do either the weekend before or after as I know everyone will have school the next day otherwise. The 35th of April being the most likely.

I heard a snippet on Radio Sheffield this morning by some fell who had been kept in Guantanamo Bay and was giving a talk somewhere in Nether Edge tonight. I didn't catch where it is or what time it starts, cost etc. Can anyone fill in the gaps please? Have searched the internet and found nothing.

There's one in New Zealand, my last message should have said first. I wasn't really concentrating.

A mate of mine is looking to play hockey in a casual kind of way, not world class, training times per week kind of way. Are there are teams out there? 5-a-side even (if sucha thing exists).

Have looked at Ponds Forge but they want £8 for 45 mins which seems a bit steep to me and they want to charge more for bat hire on top. Anyone know of any cheaper tables, anywhere, city centre(ish) preferred?

There's one at Plug with some unknowns, that's all I can find (On Saturday), might have a look if nothing else arrives.

I'm looking to do something this coming Friday or Saturday (11th and 12th of Jan) that involves something other than just killing my liver. Any ideas? I've searched the web but nothing inspires me. I'm not ruling out drinking just like to do something in addition if so.
