  1. Sadly she IS Sheffield Council especially while they operate the "strong leader" model, so rightly so she doesn't allow herself to be interviewed. There's a bloke on Twitter who only ever refers to her as "The Dinner Lady" so I don't think he thinks she's particularly capable.
  2. Only two places I've been questioned about clothing are Kuckoo and Molly Malone's who both turned me down for not wearing shoes within the past year. Think Kuckoo have changed but not sure about Molly Malone's.
  3. The sort of bizarre Sheffield attitude that proliferates throughout this forum. It has all sorts of people. People you don't know aren't really why people go out. As a community owned and run pub The Gardeners Rest needed all the help it could get. Hopefully the extra income will help it flourish and allow it to offer for more and the community who live and go there. They have decorated the function room upstairs for example and that is available for hire.
  4. I've listened to him speak. I think knowing what sort of political leaning someone has from the words they use and things they say suggests that one is more likely to know what is going on in the political world. Without that prior knowledge of politics one wouldn't have a clue as to which party/political wing they might float towards.
  5. He has signed up Dame Sarah Storey to sort some biking and walking routes.
  6. Incredible. No wonder no one knows what is happening in the politics world if this is the level of understanding.
  7. They even find negatives in the positives.
  8. Largely agree. There is talk of getting as many of the rivers as possible out of the culverts and making attractions of them. It does make lots of sense. Germany's fifth largest city is Frankfurt and is famous for.. France's fifth largest city is Nice and is famous for ... Italy's is Palermo and is famous for... Spain's 5th largest is Bilbao and is famous for... General pessimism among the populous but definitely towards the place where they choose to live. Lots and oots of glass half empty attitudes. Sheffield makes more steel now than it ever has done. One Premier League team and a Championship team is better than Leeds and the same as Birmingham. This ^ Yes I disagree. If I am going to go to the countryside I'd rather be able to spend the evenings in a nearby city than some one hoss town. Cost of travel to the peaks is minimal. Glass half empty.
  9. Not sure where they went exactly but Yorkshire was the only region to have an increase in tourist numbers in the first half of 2018 (Latest available figures) so we might be heading in the right direction.
  10. We are looking for a decent keeper for a Wednesday night league team at Goals. Anyone interested or know anyone who might be? Kick offs between 7 and 8.30 usually.
  11. There is parking on just about every side street within walking distance.
  12. It was superceeded by the stuff in Castleford and Manchester. I went once towards the end of its life and to say it was dangerous would be an understatement. Poorly maintained. They can stay if they buy the land. It's how the system works, I'm afraid.
  13. Works brilliantly. Have seen a few people, presumably not local, get it wrong and drive in the wrong lanes but makes perfect sense to keep it. I've never once seen anyone maintaing it and have driven up there every day for 11 years. Motorists should be detered from driving wherever possible but should be done by improving other options not by making car travel less efficient.
  14. I have always quite liked it when I've been. I'm not sure I recall the tapas concept as I had a rather large bowl of Oriental (can't recall where precisely) curry and rice.
  15. It does the job. Few things to work on i.e. needs more seats but they are fully aware and working on it apparently.
  16. Each to their own once you've commented and passed judgement. But they probably won't.
  17. Stereotypes making the world go round as usual. Completely untrue. Glad to see someone not thinking the end of the world is nigh.
  18. I think it is extremely bizarre. If both people, perp and victim, involved know the "code" it renders it pointless.
  19. I've asked its most frequent customer. He will be devestated and starving if they don't re-open soon.
  20. The Keep Britain Tidy campaign is running their annual Spring Clean from the 22nd of March to the 23rd of April 2019 and as part of The Sheffield Litter Pickers group we are trying to piggy back onto this and ask everyone to pick at least 20 pieces of litter during that time. Ideally 20 pieces every day, as there's more than enough to go round. Please join in, share etc. Before anyone says it's the council's job I agree but it isn't getting done and some areas in this city are a disgrace. If we wait for the council we might drown in it. https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/great-british-spring-clean
