  1. Greetings, been a while.Ref: sim card. My lady has a 3G payg sim card, puts £10.00 on it once in a blue moon. She makes calls and texts when nessesary. Seems to last for months. Should fit the bill.
  2. Many thanks RG, we can now sleep soundly in our bed.
  3. Greetings, just bought a Suzuki vitara 4x4 1996 2litre v6 24valve petrol. My question is does it have a timing chain or a belt?
  4. Been off planet for a while and just catching up with things. I just can't Comprehend how such a vile and evil group of people could be allowed to perpretrate these offences for so long. Hundreds and hundreds of people Knew what was happening......Shame on you Rotherham. Shame on you.

  7. greetings, Glad i came across this thread, now this is a long shot but do any of you guys remember a lady who worked in the offices possibly with senior management circa 1950/60 name of Dorothy Martin?
  8. Been on pension 18 months, find it a bit of a bummer really, not quite what i expected fixed income and all that, the best thing is the bus pass which is brill! as for the sixtys, bit over rated period of time i know i was there.Todays world is a far better time to be alive, Yes i know there are problems but when hav'ant there been problems? When i think of what pensioners have today against people in the sixtys ...... no contest.
  9. Yup remember it well, on a cold winters night was told if i worked a little faster the rug would finished to put on the floor by the bed, seem to recall it ended up on the bed to help keep me warm, circa- 1955/56 my children never believe these tales, i wonder why?
  10. My 21st was spent in the NAFFI at Tampin Transit camp Malaya waiting for transport to Singapore. It was a complete non event.
  11. Greetings Skippy, seems we both feel the same but for different reasons, still! you can buy a motor bike any time. i don't think i have any one left to visit in sheffield i just want to visit the city centre and places i used to hang around, i think i need a burst of nostalgia just to get things in perspective or it could be an age thing!!!
  12. Thanks for that Hillsbourgh, looks a bit smaller than i remember but it was a long time ago. Back in UK in 3 weeks time, i'm definitly going to visit Sheffield but for some reason i'm beginning to feel a little apprehensive, strange really! did any of you Ex Pats feel the same?
  13. Sheffield traffic cannot compare to the amount of traffic in Sydney, hell on earth trying to get over the Spit bridge in the rush hour, but it's the same the world over in large cities.it'll be better when the oil runs out!! back to the thread, is the main post office still there in the square up from Pond St? i used to think it was a really nice building with an old fashioned interior. remember the telegraph delivery boys on their red motor bikes?
  14. I recall the buildings in Sheffield to be most impressive,Town hall, City Hall seem to stick in my mind, i wonder, is it still possible to walk from the Midland railway station, up Howard St to the Town Hall area.
  15. What an intresting post, i left Sheffield about 45 years and never really had a strong enough urge to return but i must admit when i do hear the Sheffield accent it does bring back a lot of memories and i think to myself maybe i should return for a visit and see the old stomping grounds and based on what i've been reading i think i will, it should be intresting. At the moment i'm visiting my son in Dee Why NSW but on my return Sheffield it is! I wonder, does Leopold St still exist?
