  1. Sorry I didn't get there, car trouble:( Hope you all had a good time and have a fab Christmas. See you next year.
  2. Love the scarf. What's cabled cotton?
  3. Thanks Jill. Great to see you all. I might have finished both socks by the next meeting!
  4. I remember the shop round the corner from Jill's. It sold mainly French wools, Pingouin and Phildar. It was there in the late 1980s when I was knitting lots of baby stuff. My Grandma’s friend used to own the wool shop opposite the barracks at Hillsborough. It had dark wooden shelves and an old fashioned till which I was occasionally allowed to use. I can remember loving the look and smell of the shop and longing to play at shops. A real treat was being able to serve a customer by wrapping their wool up in a paper bag. I can't remember the name of the shop. Any ideas?
  5. Your jacket looks great. It didn't take you long to sew it up after the meeting at Jill's. I bet you're really pleased with it.
  6. Had a Fab time on Wednesday. Thanks Jill, you always make us feel so welcome. Quite tempted by the sheepy tea cosy but I need to get a teapot first.
  7. Love the tea cosy. Made me want to buy a teapot so I could knit one.
  8. I learned to crochet before I could knit. It was great because it grew quickly, was hard to drop stitches and was fashionable in the 70’s so there were lots of patterns. Once I'd got the taste for making things I soon progressed to knitting. My aunty taught me, I must have been 7.
  9. Try Joanne at Parachute. Fantastic at cutting hair that stays instyle for weeks.
  10. I don't know how we did it. Now, I look at a pattern and if there's any moss stitch in it I think it's too difficult.
  11. Thanks for last night Jill. I left with extra goodies, a spinning bag and a book. Thanks for the spinning bag Caroline, I've managed to ply my efforts and amazingly it looks like real yarn.
  12. Yes they are the ones. I'm impressed you know the name. I can't get into them, but could never part with them. If I can find them I'll bring them to the meeting tomorrow. Might even be able to find the pattern book. I loved her patterns so much, they were so different from anything else that was around at the time.
