  1. Ahh cheers was just confused by their use of the term 'out of hours'! Makes more sense now. Very worried about him now it's gone on for ages as you know will be nice to see Rachel! Thank you!! Xx
  2. Just to add that I am a staunch recommender of Peak Vets-I love them! So I'm not trying to purposely sully their name or anything-just a genuine question
  3. Hiya everyone-long time no see for loads of you! Hope you're all well! As I need an answer quick I'll keep this as short as possible-basically Jet has had a bad on/off skin condition for going on three months now, back and forth to the vets and still none closer to sorting it next appointment is tomorrow evening but he managed this evening to rip off his buster collar and had ripped open the skin on his back again it's really bad so we phoned Peak on the off chance they could see us tonight. We were told yes, but no appointments so would have to pay OOH fee. We debated, gave his back a rinse and decided that he really needed to see someone, upon phoning them back we were told to come in at half eight. And that we would be charged a higher consultation. The thing is-they close at nine?! Obviously I'm going to ask them why this is when we get there-(we were so het up when we phoned it didn't click until after we'd hung up! ) but I wondered is anyone can shed light on why this is? Obviously we will pay it because he needs to be seen but does anyone have any idea why they are charging OOH prices when they are open? Obviously if it's just ms being thick I'll accept that as my answer Cheers!
  4. My perfect life would be opening and running a brewery in the Scottish Highlands. I have my eye on a house in Arisaig to be precise. Its our dream to live somewhere on the Fort William-Mallaig road one day. Preferably at the Mallaig end. I look at houses online all the time. It's quite an obsession You can dream can't you?
  5. April is neutered but seems to have made friends with a boy cat from two doors up. She's usually a hissy little madam with animals she doesn't live with, so it's actually really amusing to watch "Thomas" (as we've so originally christened him ) wait outside the back door for her. I swear he actually calls for her, as soon as we let her out they are off like a shot together, playing on the grass opposite or investigating in next door's bushes. I know it's nothing like what you are experiencing at the moment, and we don't have a baby to think of, so it must be a huge pain if there are so many of them Not really got any advice though, I have absolutely no idea how to make a cat do anything
  6. Eeeeeeeeek I might finally get the meet baby J too in that case. I can't WAIT now! <hugs to spottie>
  7. hdclark thank you thank you thank you! Thank you so much for replying to this thread-and I have replied to your e-mail now! okismoki-thank you! I knew my dad had died but when I'm in the area I shall pop in and ask to see if I can find out any more information-I will do anything at this point to find things. Thanks! Did you know him well or were you more of an acquaintance?
  8. Eckington swimming pool was ace for me when I was small (although it's a decade and a half since I had lessons so maybe not the best recommendation ) I was very shy too so it must've been friendly or I wouldn't have coped with it. My dad had the right idea (for me anyway)-I had a lesson whilst he had a swim and then he hung around waiting for me to finish, where I could teach him (lol) what I'd learnt, and therefore get in more practice. I hope you find somewhere suitable soon
  9. No is the honest answer....unless it was a leather one! We looked at a joint one actually on a canal boat-still a contender seeing as we haven't even officially invited people yet.... (where's the dis-organised emoticon?)....
  10. Ta-dah, date bolded! I know that's not a word. Oh my goodness that headwear is EXCELLENT. Far better than fluffy pink wands and tutus
  11. My hen night is that weekend. I am thinking of making the girls go there. They keep thinking I want a "banging night" ( ) in a club with loud music. I don't. I want good beer, dogs to fuss and the chance to actually hold a conversation. Old for my age, me? How lovely that you're the chosen charity again this year-was it two years ago now the last time, when they brewed the beer-Waggy t'Ale I think it was called??? And Maisie looks fabulous. What a lucky girl. This is one fundraising activity that is a must attend Can't wait, and we will see closer to the time how we are fixed for time with the stag and hen and see if we can squeeze in some help on the Thursday or Friday! Looking forward to it!
  12. We are so guilty of this. Life really does get in the way but I feel awful that we don't do half as much as we used to (we went all the way to the south coast and back in a day in the van once with...3,4?? dogs. That was an experience ) Hope the chaos settles down soon for you ladyB
  13. You're welcome! This is Olive on the day we got her. Hope the link works, it's a Facebook one!
  14. Hi cosy We got Olive our Syrian from breeder number 8 here. She is friendly and has never bitten unlike every other hamster I've ever had (she is my first from a breeder, my others were rescues and one pet shop hammy much to my shame. All were lovely in their own way but Olive is by far the tamest! ) Good luck in your search
  15. I have a new one! Eddie Redmayne. He is ridiculously attractive!
  16. I'm with Ruby. I cannot believe the fuss this has caused-and, as a woman, as much as it pains me to admit it, in my experience there are a lot of women who will bitch about someone they perceive to be more attractive than them in order to make themselves feel superior. How many women can honestly say they have never witnessed this kind of behaviour?
  17. Oh and my OH thought the last time I fell down the stairs was hilarious too. I crashed to the bottom really noisily, and whacked my bare little toe against the corner of the radiator at the bottom. It was unutterably painful. In the grim silence that followed all I could hear was him desperately trying not to snigger. Git. After a minute the shock wore off and ended up in fits too-it was either that or weep-and to be fair, I must've looked pretty amusing!
  18. Ouch, sprains really hurt. Poor you I am so accident prone it's untrue. In the last year and a half, for example, I've fallen down the stairs five times, once whilst holding someone else's cat in a cat basket and frantically trying not to drop the poor thing. I ended up black and blue and carpet burned down one side and the cat was totally unscathed I am very nearly completely blind in one eye though-and this affects my ability to judge distances. This is my excuse for the above average number of stubbed toes and trips I seem to have anyway!
  19. I love that last picture by the way: "sod off with your camera I'm trying to relax!"
  20. No I've have seen you, I see lots and lots of the same dogs round and about but never your gorgeous pair I'll come and say hi if I do though-you'll recognise me by my unruly werewolf of a border collie who is currently sporting a very fetching cone on his head What a pair, accessorising our dogs in such an amusing manner
  21. That has GOT to be one of the best pictures ever posted on this forum :hihi: The little 'uns seeming reaction is funny! What an amazing and distinctive pair of dogs Get yourself on Dragon's Den
  22. Congratulations on your pregnancy also
  23. Bless her! We fostered a Samoyed who was in season once and the mess was grim with such a huge fluffy, WHITE beast So we put her in a pair of Andy's boxer shorts. I'm sure she would've been happier with ribbony knickers though (By the way, pics, now, it's the law )
  24. We went for my birthday this Feb (not exactly my choice, but a place like this has something for everyone) and I was quite surprised by the food when it came. Puddings were ok but my main (sea bass) was actually really nice and cooked beautifully. OH had a stew which looked lush (I don't eat meat so coming from me that's saying something!) I'm a little bit of a self-confessed food snob (I'm not as horrible as that makes me sound!) but I honestly didn't think it was that bad really. It's somewhere everyone will find something on the menu they like-and with the size of my family this is most definitely a Good Thing. Although my sushi platter from Edo for my birthday tea was much more to my taste
