You used to Knock around with a guy named Les Rhodes didn't you.? Do you remember a family called Farmer, there was four or five daughters, I can't remember their names though. Ellershaw is another name that I recall, They lived on Upwell street and had some relations that lived on Birdwell Rd., I thinkthe mothers were sisters, one used to have a pink rinse and the other one a blue rinse.

  5. Hi, Yes I do recall the opening, didn't Jackie Davies live opposite. Was Frank Greenall the father of Barry? I remember him, we had a fight I bit his hand he blacked my eye! Funny what you start to remember when different names come up. Things keep coming to mind, like did Trevor Wright marry Christine Wright, I know they was engaged but I lost track of Christine when I got married.
  6. Ah yes I remember now, that was his favorite expression. Someone mentioned Homeric, I used to work there a few years ago now, but before that it used to repair the old motor coachs, I used to stand and watch the men working on my way home from school (I went to Owler Lane Infant, Grimesthorpe Jnr. & Owler Lane Secondary Modern). A long time ago now. Geotom mentioned Bobby Litchfield, he had two sisters and an older brother, also in that yard was Billy & Ann Davies, they was related to Jackie & Malcolm Davies second cousins I think. I can't remember a wood yard on Wansfell Road, but then I didn't used to go up there very much. Other names that come to mind is Sandra & Hazel Deakins, Thier yard entrance was opposite necker's chip shop.

I have left Grimesthorpe but I do visit, occassionally. I can't say I know Wendy rawson that well but I do remember her being the May Queen at St. Thomas's church. Another thing that springs to mind! does anyone remember Kieth (never knew his surname) that used to walk around talking to himself and anyone that would listern also Annie (she lived in Chambers Lane) she was a little bit backward. Is there anyone who remembers Sandra Robinson sledging down Birdwell Road and into a tram. I can't recall all the details but she had a broken arm.
