  1. Hi everyone Does anyone know if a gentleman called Alfred Fawcett ran the business? I only ask as he's a distant relation and I heard he did and would be interested to find out. Cheers
  2. I had a curry from 7 Spices for the first-time the other week and thought it was delicious, cheap and very generous portions. The Mohul in Totley is also a favourite.
  3. Ah fair enough, that is more evenly spread than I thought from the ones I have read. Maybe it's because he is never too harsh on the food, usually the staff. Still, it's all a matter of opinions. One man's (or woman's) trash is another's treasure. Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
  4. Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but does anyone else think the food reviews in both of our local papers are somewhat hard to believe? I have read loads recently and they are all positive. Maybe I am a cynic, but I find it hard to believe that every place they go to is good or excellent. Surely they must have visited a poor place!
  5. Amigos is one of the best Mexican's I have ever been too. Delicious, fresh and cheap. Seriously, give it a try.
  6. Hi everyone We will be driving to Wembley from a friends in Kent and wondered the best place to park? I've heard it's best to park north of embley and get the tube in to avoid traffic, but have no idea where. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers. Up the Blades!
  7. Hey everyone, I'm interested in doing something like this after seeing some amazing shots from inside the Hallam Tower, the views from the top looked amazing. So if a few of us are up for it we should give it a go. I say this having no experience at all though so would definitely be following the lead! Anyone got ideas for locations?
  8. The Crookes are a great Sheffield band who are playing on the main stage at Tramlines. Bromheads too. Anyone got any other recommendations?
  9. I'll throw my hat into the ring...so to speak. I live in Totley, so I can play at Abbeydale and Graves if anyone's up for a game.
  10. Your name has just reminded me of one of the most mercurial and memorable riders ever to grace Owlerton! Anyone know whatever happened to Mr Roman Matousek? Aside from prison...
  11. Tiny Dancers...love breath it in, check them out on MySpace. Apart from that I hear good things about The Dodgems and The Stoops ae great considering the members are only 16-18. Anyone got anyone else to recommend?
  12. What and where is CEX? And I didn't know you could sell tem on here, so I might do that. Ta for yor help anyhow. I should reach 100 posts by 2018.
  13. I remember there used to be a place off The Moor but it sadly closed many years ago. Ta for any help you can give me.
  14. I believe she and her partner took over a pub in Rotherham. Gone are the legendary pub quizzes now!
  15. Oh god, I remember Ken. What a legend, when he wasn't singing badly, he was telling everyone in the that that Mr and Mrs whoever had arrived.
  16. I saw David Blunkett walking in Millhouses with his black lab Sadie last Saturday.
  17. Thanks for your thoughts ladies and gentleman. To be blunt it appears that The Plug is kicking The Leadmill's arse here. I can understand and agree with a lot of the comments being made in The Plug's favour, it is the newer, cleaner and more modern venue, but being a traditionalist I could never slate or abandon The Leadmill. I think we're lucky to have two top quality venues. Long live the rivalry.
  18. Being an old codger of 23 I have been brought up on nights at 'Ledders' but it seems that The Plug with its new decor and upcoming bands booked is starting to challenge their dominance. What does everyone else think? I have heard both venues are owned by the same person, how true this is I do not know. Which venue does everyone on this forum prefer?
  19. I have to agree Pippa, I have also purchased Little Man Tate's album and it is fantastic. Infact it is being played non-stop in my car as I try and pick up the hilarious lyrics to all the songs. It is something you can listen to in any mood and it will pick you up. Simply brilliant. A treasure. Sheffield music continues to rock.
  20. I can only echo Ally's comments, my sincere condolences to her family and friends. It makes you realise that it's only a game at the end of the day.
  21. Since my original post on this thread, I have purchased The Long Blondes; Milburn and Bromheads Jacket albums. I have to say, each and everyone is excellent. I first listened to Milburn and was disappointed, thinking it was a Monkey's mark two, but everytime I have listened since I have liked them more and more. Infact they're brilliant, especially What You Could've Won. To be frank, the Sheffied music scene rocks right now and we should all be proud. Maybe we should be renamed The Steel and Music City...yeah ok, so it doesn't quite rhyme! Oh well.
  22. 1) Beautiful Down Town Bramall Lane 2) Henderons 3) Wards 4) Leadmill 5) City Hall 6) Peace Gardens 7) Town Hall
  23. I would add the Shepley Spitfire in Totley. Reasonable prices, plates the size of Toga and enough food to feed Togans for a week.
  24. That's it, LONG Blondes. It would have taken me a 'long' time to remember that, Stella has an affect on me, not usually a good one! They were in this month's NME magazine and spoke about how they love Sheffield - respect.
