  1. Hi sorry I havent posted on here as I have been in contact with Magsie. We have found the kitten a home with gnomi and im sure that she will love this little kitty as much as us. I really would have loved to keep him but as I said my kids are allergic to fur. Its just so lovely to know that he is going to a home where its obvious he will be very much loved! Thanks very much Magsie and Gnomi for all your help! xxxx
  2. 3 weeks ago I opened my back door and a beautiful little ginger and white male kitten with no collar ran in. I kept putting him out but each time over the next 1 hour I opened my door he ran back in. I walked around the block and knocked on every door to find its owner but had no luck. I kept the kitten overnight (he is litter trained too!) as I didnt want to leave him out in the cold. However I cant keep him as my kids have eczema. My mum very kindly said she would look after him until we found the owners but still no luck. My mum has now found she is allergic to the kitten and cant keep him either. We have asked around and put up posters but no one has come forward. Does anyone know where I could take this beautiful little mite to be rehomed??
  3. Because according to the caretaker it was the councils idea not the schools. Dont get me wrong, Im all for the calming effects and road narrowing which I think is a great idea but I think the stupid doll like things are dangerous!
  4. Im a parent of children that attend Longley Primary where these are situated and I HATE THEM!!!!!! I dont drive myself but the issue I have with these are that the kids think they are great. Every day at end of school do you see kids playing on them. If they're not swinging or jumping on them they they are going up for a really good look and to play with them. I personally think they are REDICULOUS and unneccesary and encourage children to play near the road. I am already in the process of writing to the council to express my concerns.
  5. Thanks everyone, I am soooo proud. I found out today who the guy was that helped them home. Funnily enough it turned out to be my friends brother who we have never met before!! I saw his mum at school who told me about him helping this guy and as she knows my OH is epileptic asked if it was him and sure enough it was!! So later on we are taking a thank you card and a little tipple round!!!!! xxxx
  6. I just wanted to say a great big thank you to the people that stopped to help my 7 year old son and my husband tonight. On the way back from football this evening aprox 5.20pm my husband who suffers with epilepsy had a seizure at the top of Moonshine Lane at Longley. He was with our 7 year old little boy who you can imagine was very frightened as it was dark. He helped his dad to the ground and waited for people passing to ask for help. He has seen this many times before but has never been alone or outside when it has happened. Eventually someone came and helped my husband up from the floor whilst giving my son lots of encouragement and praise for being brave. Apparently there was a man by himself who then walked them home and a couple who came to help. So if it was you or you know who it was I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! (unfortunately the man had gone before I could thank him myself). Also a great big thank you to my son for keeping calm and being extremely brave!
  7. aah this is a really sad story. I really feel for the boys mum and dad(and the little lad too of course). Its really hard to know what to do when it seems everyone wants/needs a piece of you!! They obviously thought it was safe for their child to be going to school by himself otherwise they wouldnt have done it. They did it because they had no choice not because they couldnt be bothered, like lots of other people. Instead of people making judgements on them why dont you offer your help and support???? My kids go to a school on the other side of the estate or I for one would certainly be offering to help making sure he gets to and from school safe! Why dont people who know this family and have kids go to the same school offer to meet at a designated place and help each other out????? Honestly it beggars belief sometimes.
  8. no offence but people tend to say this when they ant got a clue whats gone off!

  19. Cheers! it should be a good day. just hope weather is decent! Its true though that the area aint THAT bad. AND I have'nt got a staffy!
  20. Hate to say it but its people like you who give Longley/Southey/Parson Cross and so on the bad reputation!! We are just a few community organisations who are trying our best to make the areas what they used to be! I too have grown up on this estate and am saddened by the things that now happen but if people pull together and help each other out then maybe we could make changes!! Instead all you do is complain and criticise instead of help. So what does that say about you??? In my opinion you are as bad as the people you are slagging off!!!
