I don't mind fiction as long as it's realistic. Sometimes the character in a movie has super powers while fighting that no normal human being could possibly have. That's the type of movie I don't like but I didn't mind Ghost, perhaps because there were comedy elements to it too. What about musicals? Do you like those? I loved Grease for instance but people just don't burst out singing in the street for instance do they? Â
Do you just mean on TV Pat?

My Grandma used to say that one to me but instead of teacher said my name.😊

I live in Canada and the government is making it legal to buy marijuana this October. I live in an apartment and I'm hoping no one smokes pot in this building. At the bus stop folks who smoke, smoke up a storm before getting on the bus. Can you imagine stood with one or more people smoking pot? I'll probably get high while waiting for my bus, I'm a senior so it won't take much. My grandson said to our daughter that it can't be harmful if the government say it's okay to buy and smoke it. So the daughter wonders what kind of message are they sending our young folk.

I guarantee that he had some form of autism.Â
I thought that too Jonny.

Taxman he was a loner apparently. School mates at the special needs school he used to attend said he never mixed with anybody and walked the hallways with his head down and making meowing sounds. I ask you what female would approach him if that's the kind of behaviour he used. He tried to join the army and couldn't hack it, he asked to leave after a couple of months, so instead got interested in incel. Who knows what would be next, Isis? sad really he just wanted to belong. He needed mental help a long time ago IMO.

I will apologize to tinfoil hat then Joker if that was his meaning. How he wrote it I understood it a different way altogether.

Some interesting things came out of this tragedy. One being the cop choosing not to shoot said suspect, which was refreshing and a series of American "academics" - and I use that word loosely commenting on how said cop either bottled it or failed in his duty of care.Â
Stranger still, one of the witnesses owned a video shop. A video shop!!!! In 2018!!!!
Â
You are so wrong tinfoilhat. That cop was trained for in case something like this happened. Everyone here thinks the opposite of you, he was very brave and kept a cool head. The suspect told him he had a gun in his pocket to which the cop replied "I don't care." If he'd have fired his gun all that glass behind him would have shatter and maimed and killed several more people. You should read about what actually did go down and watch the video too.

Not quite my era as I was born in the 60's but if you had young children nappy pins were essential in the late 70'sÂ
I've still got one of our daughter's pink nappy pin, and she's now 51!

Would that be the top of Milnrow on the corner with Wordsworth?Â
Hi sweetdexter, We've chatted before on here, you're lucky I rarely come on here these days. Our house was in the middle, we were in a semi and our adjoining neighbour was called Atkin and they actually lived on Milnrow Drive, I told you we were on a corner, right?

Hi Roger, If you went to Yew Lane from 1954 to 58 I'm afraid I don't know those boys you mentioned. The only boy called Stuart in my class was Stuart Parkin, I was in the C class.
Welcome to the forum Stuart, it's rare I come on these days because I'm on Facebook.

What very sad news, he was the loveliest and most intelligent man I ever posted with. My thoughts and condolences go to his wife Sue and all the rest of his family. R.I.P.

just buy a couple of mankini's tzijlstra, one for your chin and one for your eeerm, private parts.

You know very well what I meant in the kitchen, you know those pubic looking hairs that drop off chins into food. Never mind they can still wear their chin nets, lets talk more about you making those chin caps fashionable and time saving for cyclist. How about mounting a camera on your head then we all can follow you in the discovery into high speed cycling. Start at a well known hill in Sheffield, is it called Jenkins? you know the one which they struggled up in the Tour de France. Only you could go down, wouldn't that impress your girlfriend if you become airborne.
What would your choice of colour and design be for you chin cap? If you don't film it would you please post pictures.

I don't believe my eyes Alcoblog I personally hate beards so if I were a partner I wouldn't let my man wear that monstrosity, in fact he wouldn't need one he'd be clean shaven like my hubby.
A better idea would be a trendy beard cap for people preparing food, more important for hygiene than having them for sports.

Good one's
When I first started this thread I had no idea there were this many rhymes out there, and there still coming.

In the top right hand corner you will see a search box Melthebell, type in your rhyme, and press search. Hopefully it should tell you if it's been posted before.
I've just done that for this one, this is how I remember it.

Hope to god you don't go in one of those.

I thought it was her. She is a grandma now, she had one daughter, and now has 3 grand-daughter's. I live in Canada but she's still in Sheffield.

I keep looking on this thread hoping someone was at Yew Lane when I was there, 1954 to 58. I've got a couple of Facebook friends who were in my class, June (nee) Wilson, and Michael Platts. Anyone else out there who knew Joyce Theaker? I remember Graham Sheldon, Melvin Ashton, Julia Johnson Alan Wragg Brian Adams Stuart Parkin Trever Turton Lesley Hudson Jacqueline Knowles Patricia Cockshott Christine Armstrong George Tandy and quite a few more. Are you out there anyone? One of my very best friends was Margaret Whitney, sadly she passed away a few years ago.
-
Hi Dave, I'm sure that's my youngest sister on the bottom, second from the left. Her name then was Ann Theaker, did you know her?

Sol I Googled and found this advice might suit you.
Â
Â
Keep a loaded water gun handy on the deck and shoot the birds whenever you see them. (Pellets or scatter shot from other types of guns could harm neighbours.)
Â
Plant marigolds. Magpies are averse to strong odours. Scatter moth balls around your yard.
Â
Ask your butcher for scraps and lace the meat with hot peppers or pepper spray. You may wish to do this only when you can keep an eye on the bait to ensure no other animals or small children come in contact with it.
Â
Good luck!

I know hubby's dad always said the moment he took his first breath his sister took her last one. I'm glad Bill came back and you're trying to help him like the true gentleman you are.

Thanks hillsbro for giving me info on my husbands family. I've got some info from another kind person off here, George and Emily had another daughter Henrietta who died. The person who gave me the info told me everything you've told me just about, but like you she couldn't trace George's family.
Â
Good luck billalleniyp with your search

Hello! my father-in-law Joseph Moore was born in Attercliffe in July 1916 on Ebury Street. His mother was called Emily Ann and his father George, maybe Johnny was his cousin or something. I only know of 2 brothers, Albert and George, good luck with your search. Be patient and someone will help you on here soon as they see your post, especially hillsbro.

I keep thinking we may have gone through them all, then more appear.

Hi scoobz,    Yes I do believe we are related, I've only found out recently that it was spelt Steel not Steele. My Grandma always said it was with an e, maybe she thought it sounded posher spelt like that.  I remember visiting aunt Annie and Uncle John when I was a little girl, they played cards together. My Grandma was left by her husband Joseph Theaker to raise 4 young children, my Dad being one of them. I have one or two Facebook friends who are descendants of the Steels, you could be one of them. Pm me your email address and I could send you a copy of an old photo of Grandma Steel and all her children.Â
