Ladystar, please I understand that you or rather or friend wished for a particular person to make contact. Mediums cannot call up those that have passed over, they see you is able and willing to make contact. There are many reasons why some come through almost immediately and others take years. There is a lady at our church who had to wait 20years before her son came through. We on the Earth cannot possibly fathom the reasons and one thing mediums alwys say is please dont will someone through as usually this actually has the opposite effect and somehow stops them from being able to communicate...as we hold on to them so much here ...then they are not able to move forward in their new life and all we are doing is holding them back. Sp we must learn to let go and relax and just send loving thoughts out and see who is then able to make contact. I hope this goes someway to explaining your friends dilema.

Hi Ratchet, Sorry to hear of your loss, unfortunately you will receive differences of opinion on the subject of mediumship. People are at different stages of developing their own spirituality, some are total non believers and rightly so as they haven't yet had their proof and experinces. They are simply on a different life path at this time. Others have witnessed and had experienced things beyond the physical world which has led them to question and seek answers. The Spiritualist churches strive to provide proof of survival into the spirit realms and take great care to try to eradicate other possible sources of receiving information. For instance we book mediums from far a field and have a separate room in which the medium sits before the service so that they cannot be accused of overhearing converations or even seeing the audience before the service starts. To answer your question on what happens in an inner circle, here I take it you mean an Open Circle, which is where people of all abilities are invited to work with spirit and relay messages of survival to the people in the circle. Such circles happen at 1.30pm & 7.30pm on Wednesdays, 7.30pm on Saturdays and 3.00pm on Sundays at Whitham Road. It is a little less formal than a demonstration from the platform...where there is a recognised and experienced medium working with spirit and relaying their messages of love and survival. Demos are on Sundays at 6.30pm and once a month (the next being tuesday 9th June at 7.30pm). My advice to anyone seeking reassurance that one's relative has arrived safely in the spirit world is to go along with an open mind to as many different services as you can. If a medium thinks they have a link with you then do not give any information at all, only answer with only yes / no answers and see what information is relayed. Depending on the strength of the link with spirit and the experience of the medium will have an effect on the strength of evidence received. I am hearing a few words of comfort as I type but dont feel it's the right place or if it would be agreeable to those that run this forum, to include them here, I feel you should try a few services and see for yourself. timboss

Whitham Road hasn't one running at the moment but there are plans to have one running after xmas Bagger. I am a practising medium and find it interesting seeing all the comments here on mediumship. Certainly a lot of people have varying views but one point I feel I must point out that there are a lot of mediums working for spirit in the true sense of the word and are rewarded spiritually and not financially. The small sums a charged for attending services are for the upkeep of the churches. There are some who are self employed providing evidence of survival of death and need to pay bills just the same as anybody else, those that have another source of income do it for the pleasure of being able to help others understand that life is eternal

As the Norwich Union has offices in Sheffield isn't their client base going to skewd towards more Sheffielders having policies with that company so making these statistics not representative of the country as a whole ? And is this not just a publicity stunt from a company who only last week announced many redundancies ?

hi, Whitham Road SNU Church also has services on a Saturday Evening with a recognised medium on the platform demonstrating mediumship from 7.30pm till 9.00pm also a Sunday divine service which includes healing prayers aswell as a demonstration of mediumship, this starts an hour earlier at 6.30pm. Tuesday 26th of September there is a medium's rally ... two mediums on the platform and a psychic artist in the audience....pay on the door £2.50, should be interesting....in reply to the person wanting a reccomendation of a good medium...I would advise first visiting a few different churches and different services to get the feel of spiritualism. You should be able to get something from the services and you may get want you are wanting without engaging the private services of a medium.
