  1. That should be easy because its slap bang in the middle of pumpkin season... ...no wait
  2. Last year we threw a party after we got married (we got married in secret and threw the party some weeks afterward). Plenty of people (15-20) said they were going to turn up and didn't. We didn't invoice any of them despite the fact we paid for food and various other things on the night. Sometimes you just have to accept that things don't go your way. The invoicee might have been bad mannered but the invoicer is to blame for overreacting and this has got way way out of hand
  3. I'll bet you love them, i'll bet they are valued family members, i'll bet you treat them really well and they reciprocate those feelings as best they can in their doggy way and you are head of their pack. But I bet they don't concern themselves with worrying about whether you or they exist or live, all they are bothered about is if there is food in the bowl and that the pack is safe and well and that the family unit carries on. Thats not to belittle your dogs or you. But, be honest, do your dogs have a life or do they exist?
  4. The story originated on Reddit. Here's the original thread where he asked for advice
  5. I don't disagree that its bad manners but is bad manners grounds for litigious behaviour? If you or I presented someone with an invoice and tried to drag them through court for non payment everytime we encountered rudeness we'd do little else. The woman is barking
  6. She would have lost the money if the kid would have turned up. The money was gone no matter what, this is about point scoring and is beyond pathetic. I'd go to court and let her get laughed out of the building
  7. Doesn't know what it is but doesn't like it What difference does it make who plays it and why? It doesn't hurt anyone else
  8. It is my opinion and I stand by it. To each his own which is why I refuse to eat the repellent stuff. Its wholly unnecessary and I can't see the point of it but it is legal so knock yourself out
  9. If you mean Simonites then I will back you up and say these are pretty good. We bought a few of these at christmas and while they aren't the best i've ever had they are pretty interestingly good and well flavoured. You can get various flavours including apple, black pudding, stilton and a couple of others
  10. Horrid stuff in every sense of the word. Its not nice to eat or to cook with and I don't give a crap what they say about "modern production methods" force feeding an animal till its liver gives out is barbaric, unnecessary and grotesquely cruel. Eating meat is one thing, torturing an animal to death to get a part of it is quite another. Still, to each his own. Have a good time at your torture garden
  11. Its about £550 but I think you get a lifetime guarantee (and so you should at that price) ---------- Post added 14-01-2015 at 18:04 ---------- Thats my query with them as well. Can you taste as you go with them? can you check the seasoning and consistancy while it does its thing? They just seem a little self contained for my liking
  12. They really are a step above Asda and Tesco aren't they?
  13. Are we talking about one of these things? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2379179.htm#pdpFullProductInformation These things are coming out as a result of this http://thermomix.vorwerk.co.uk/ Its been championed by most top chefs now as an indispensible bit of equipment and the next big thing for home chefs. The thermomix not only cooks it chills as well so you can make sorbets and ice creams as well, it replaces about 6 bits of equipment which youwould hope it would for that price tag! That and sous vide will be the big thing
  14. There's a vast difference between graffiti and vandalism, for example what has appeared on the side of The Brew House isn't vandalism but is graffiti and is art. There's also several other clever, witty, vibrant pieces around the city centre similar to it and i'd rather see them than blank, grey walls
  15. Thats ok, its fine to disagree. I used to like The Trews but its jumped the shark recently. Its as biased as the corporations and organisations it claims to be opposed to. If Brand wants to change the world but doesn't want to act (and he doesn't) then he's going to have to be balanced and at least try to provide part of the whole story and he just isn't any more. Right now he's wallowing in the muck he claims to despise. For me I can't get along with him any more
  16. Did you type this on your iphone or your windows laptop?
  17. This is neither news, information or social commentary its just an opinion
  18. Don't get in debt and be kind to as many people as you can but be aware that the world is a cruel, hard place but you can make a place for yourself without being terrible but you might not achieve all you might have dreamed because to do that you need to truly not give a crap about other people
  19. Some places do that. Solicitors offices and suchlike
  20. You can always rent a live tree and return it to the farm after christmas then rent it again next christmas there are a few places that do it http://www.thelittletreecompany.com/christmas-tree-hire/christmas-tree-hire-faq/
  21. You don't bake much do you? http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/basic-bread-recipe/ http://www.bakingmad.com/classic-white-bread-recipe/ http://www.allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/707/basic-bread.aspx
  22. You could do that but a quick google shows the most basic recipes require oil. What if you didn't have any? The point of this isn't to get in a tedious tis, t'isn't playground argument, its to highlight that cooking from scratch and making things taste good can be difficult because of the high initial outlay of basic ingredients
  23. Do you just imagine its in there? What if the baker won't give you any for free and you don't have any baking powder?
