  1. Maybe you should head for the Folk Forest? That will at least be relatively low key and from what I understand is a lot of peoples favourite part of the whole festival
  2. Wu-Tang Clan are the band for you!
  3. Does anyone have any water? Someone has been given quite a severe burn
  4. I already have. You were too busy taking cheap shots at fatties and using emoticons to notice. Way to go for the low hanging fruit. So long as it can be diluted then you can slap a tax on it
  5. I've got a serious question. Who is to work down the mines? I'm not doing it and i'm not sending my son down either. I worked on the coal health contract on the government side and spent years reading miners medical records. I wouldn't send anyone down to do that, I down care how well paid it is. Besides which we're a generation or two away from those men, my father was a miner and told me never to go down the pit, he hated it, so did my uncles and my cousin who all worked at the same pit (Maltby in case you were wondering). I just can't see lines of youths queuing up to learn to mine
  6. No. You've not thought it through
  7. YES! tanners, chandlers, fletchers, wainwrights, nightsoilmen, a Sherriff, blacksmiths, armourers, musketmen, thatchers, badgers, leech collectors, alchemists, knockers ups and lamp lighters. These are what our city is crying out for
  8. I selected that pic because it showed the amounts of sugar I admit its not the greatest example ever but it shows a range of fizzy drinks and some childrens drinks and the coffee and a smoothie which people tend to assume are a healthy option but which do contain lots of sugar - quite likely in the form of fructose if not added sugar. The coffee is interesting because it doesn't say what it is, it could have syrups or anything in it which I assume it does because that would account for that amount of sugar because coffee and foamed milk alone wouldn't account for that amount of sugar
  9. Think of it like tuna. Defrost is thoroughly and fry it on a griddle or a grill pan Or if you feel like you want to be a bit daring you could confit it
  10. You're an idiot. Do you honestly think "sugar" is just going to be classified as whats in coke and fizzy drinks? Its not. Sugar is in all kinds of processed and prepared drinks http://andykennyfitness.ie/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/sugar-blog.jpg If this tax comes in it will be stretched far and wide and affect everyone. As usual the government is using the stick when the carrot would probably be far more effective in getting people to change their habits. If farmers were rewarded for producing free range or organic, or schools or hospitals could get more funding if they could prove they were feeding the kids or patients healthier food and not just the average meal or if companies showed they were putting some effort into reducing their staffs calorie intake they could get something. With a little imagination the possibilities are endless
  11. If it happened it would be devastating. Theres a common misconception that the people claiming HB are all idle, workshy layabouts who have no intention of working and have just spent their days scheming how to get out of doing anything except screwing the taxpayer. These people exist but are a teeny tiny percentage. Do you know who are the biggest percentage of HB claimants? Pensioners. Followed by the disabled followed by single parents who tend to work. These three groups often live week to week or month to month and budget carefully and rely on housing benefit to keep a roof over their head. Upset their equilibrium and it can devastate them and not just them the ripples carry on through the housing chain, if they lose their properties where do they go? The smaller cheaper properties aren't there and the people who would fill their properties probably can't afford to do it either so it sends a shudder through the whole rental market and causes a sort of jam. It happened when the bedroom tax came in while the adjustments were made and people sorted themselves out but this would be much much worse. ---------- Post added 02-07-2015 at 21:33 ---------- You do understand that the £26000 is the absolute maximum a family unit would be allowed to claim. Its not what is automatically given to each benefit claimant?
  12. We should take it seriously. Its not like the OP is a johnny-come-lately to the forum
  13. By Russell Brand. I want to see a Trews about The Trews and I want to see a Trews about Russell Brand. He tells us to question everything why not himself? I want him to turn his spotlight on him
  14. You object to touching someones hand but are quite happy to cuddle someone which involves no end of contact. You don't know how dirty that person is, even if they're clothed you've no idea how dirty their clothes are or where they've been. It seems a curious stance to take
  15. But embracing is far better and incredibly clean? You're an incredibly curious person
  16. No. Because thats just Brand taking the pee (excellently I might add) out of people being dense. I mean an actual analysis of the Trews
  17. Because we're all beastly and rough and smelly and horrid whereas women are delicate little flowers who need nurturing and protecting and are incapable of impure thoughts and deeds and farts... ...and OH WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
  18. The truth is somewhere in the middle. He shamelessly self promotes but he has to, if he doesn't then how can he raise awareness when he does actually mobilise and do something? I sort of get the impression that the media don't want to report on what he's actually doing thats good and he does do good but not nearly as much as he could do and that is what frustrates me about him. That and the fact that he never ever has a Trews asking people to look at the Trews. A little humility and self awareness might be nice from him. Overall I do think he could be a powerful force for good if he wanted
  19. I'm somewhat in agreement but I think that comparing parenting methods from decades ago is always going to be difficult to reconcile. I'm a parent of an autistic 11 year old as well so I have some experience with this subject. He doesn't have a mobile! You seem to be generalising a bit. I think its a bit unfair to say todays kids don't suffer for their actions and are playing games constantly. I know parents who encourage their kids to play sports and who punish their kids for wrongdoing. You can't realistically impose the standards of the 70's onto today just as you wouldn't impose the standards of the 30's onto the 70's. The complaint that kids aren't as well behaved as previous generations is as old as kids.
  20. How do you know? Then what are you saying?
  21. Hang on, i've not watched this program closely but I did see it a couple of times and there was at least one example where there was a father figure present and the experts gave a positive autism diagnosis. Are you saying that man was a poor parent? I'm confused. Are you saying a lack of male influence causes autism?
  22. Sorry my old love! It was this one Now that Brand is actually talking about current affairs and not just endlessly circle jerking about british politics and grinding his own personal axe Trews is so much better
