  1. Hello forum footballers after several threads about people organising games and nothing seeming to come of them, me and a buddy have taken the plunge and set up our own team at Goals on Wednesday nights. We have a match this week and having spoken to the chap that runs the league he is going to try and get us into a league as soon as possible and has placed us in a mini league of new teams for the time being. We are playing a grading match this wednesday so am looking for people who may be interested in playing regularly for us or are available the odd week (Wednesdays). I want to try and build a list of reliable people and maybe organise some friendly kick about's to run along side this team. Specifically after someone who would be interested in playing in goal, or at least sharing goal duties with myself on alternative weeks. cheers
  2. I am also interested, I posted in the other 5 a side thread but it didn't seem to go anywhere.
  3. I would be interested in joining in anyone playing at Goals, I signed up to their free agents thing but haven't had any joy. I play saturdays so am not in bad shape but am after playing more regularly as I seem to spend a lot of team on the bench... can play any nights other than Mondays for the next few weeks or tuesdays.
  4. http://www.mag7darts.co.uk/ I found this the other week, have signed up on the forum but I don't feel ready to join a team yet as I have only been playing a few weeks!
  5. never been in twenty two, do they do much goalie kit? I am only a part time keeper but I get most of my stuff from http://www.just-keepers.com/ as they seem to be the best stocked for keepers, do a decent catalogue too which they will send you.
  6. Was just wondering if anyone is a member of Beauchief golf club? just put in my application for membership but I don't actually know anyone who is a member and was told they would try to introduce me to some members at a meeting all new applicants go through, however I am currently off work for the summer so was wondering if there are any members few to play with me so I can get my handicap sorted.
  7. cheers, didn't know that about moorview. Will have a look next time I am up there as I am sure they have something up about it. When I was up moorview on monday I got a slip for a new membership card and it has a note on it about a putting green and short game area that they will start development on in the spring. Went Pete Cowans today, nice looking place. good mats and decent balls and they all seem friendly. The actual range area itself seems a bit confusing to me though due to all the markers and flags that they have out on it but that a very minor grievance.
  8. Hi Wroughton, question just dawned on me which you might know the answer too from the sounds of it. Is there anyone local that does good putting lessons that you know off? do pete cowan's place do them?
  9. I will go give it a look on Thursday then after that write-up! might have a word about lessons as well, I like moorview but they don't do video lessons and I wouldn't mind having a check. cheers
  10. is that at Grange park golf club? just looked it up on google myself, I was getting lessons out at moorview but work in Rotherham and would prefer to go to the range straight from work. Whats there range like?
  11. 180 balls is 5quid at bradway/moorview if your a member and 6 quid if your not (its 5 quid to become a member) I think its 4quid for 90. I am going out tomorrow so I will check they are correct prices.
  12. you can if its raining, you have limited time or there is a particular technique, shot distance, method you are trying to groove.....
  13. I would be willing to hear from anyone that fancies a game next week or has room in there game as I still haven't found any reliable people to play with and break up from work for the summer on Friday. Any courses around sheffield will do
  14. http://www.golfrangefinder.co.uk/rangedetails.asp?prikey=466 moor view is where I go, its near Dore and Totley golf course
  15. my plan to play every day fizzled out however I did play Beauchief this morning. Went up by myself and joined in with 3 Veteran regulars who have played up there for years. Was nice being told the ins and outs of the course and really enjoyed the round and the company as they were top blokes. couldn't believe how busy the course was but was impressed with the standard although parts of it seemed a bit wet. Views are fantastic mind. Couldn't get a hang of the greens though, kept hitting breaks that didn't seem to be there although my putting is easily my weakest point. Ended up scoring 109 which I am fairly happy about at this moment in my game as I am not the greatest player within 100 yards of the green, hit some good drives and had 10 holes of 1 over, ruined myself on the 10th and 13th where I got a 9 and an 11 after some horrendous play
  16. bit random but people on here seem to know sheffield better than any tour guides or information site and I couldn't find anything helpful using the search feature. I am looking after my folks dog and am looking for somewhere to take him at the weekend for a decent trek. We have been going to Meersbrook park at the minute as its close by but usually need to do a few laps of the park to even begin to tire. Is there anywhere bigger thats dog friendly and interesting to walk?
  17. finally going to get round to actually playing a course in Sheffield next week during my hols. What's considered the easiest of the 4 council run courses? and is there any others less than about 18 quid a round I should check out? am going to try and play a different course ever day from Tuesday-Saturday
  18. Cheers Wroughton, thats certainly helpful perspective. I have started working in a school recently so have the summer holidays off and my early plans are to try and play at least 3 times a week as I made myself a challenge of finally getting a handicap this year after shooting under 100 for the first time last season and being told I have the potential to be a decent golfer if I would only concentrate on my short game (which I have now) I haven't heard of college pines but I am going to look into going out and having a round at Lees hall to see what I think and how I get on.
  19. Its a private course where as I have had troubles in the past on Municipals in terms of slow play, people not repairing divots, being threated for not being best pleased at being hit by an errant drive that didn't come with a yell and having the audacity to be annoyed by this as the person came to get there ball. I have not played any course in sheffield and having heard the SIV run ones can get busy merely wanted to know what Lees hall was like. I thought maybe a members course is more likely to be treated with respect by its players. Also I am interested in getting involved in a society or team and haven't seen this offered by the golf fit scheme courses, as like yourself I don't have anyone to play regularly with since moving to sheffield. I would have taken you up on your offer on the last page where you posted your mobile number but am too thick to use my phone
  20. http://www.sivltd.com/news/768/usgo.html http://www.sivltd.com/events/568/ultimate_sheffield_golf_open_2007.html I can't find any more information about it and only old links on the older parts of the Siv websites I have found through google searchs. However I met a few guys at Moor view who played in last years so it obviously still goes on. I think its usually at beauchief so may be worth asking up there? I have never actually played any course in sheffield since moving here in 2005 as I have never had anyone to play with but am going to go down next month and play a round or two by myself before I commit to the monthly payments. It is a fantastic deal and I have the whole summer off due to working in a school so would like to be able to use the gym and swimming pool at my leisure. was meant to play with a chap off here last year but my old job kept getting in the way
  21. has anyone ever played lees hall? I was all set to sign up for the sheffgolf SIV run deal however have just seen that Lees hall have reduced membership and no joining fee. sorry can't leave a link due to lack of posts
  22. is the sheffield open on this year? I can't find anything about it on the SIV or play golf websites
  23. are there any societys in or around sheffield? been playing since I was a lad and been having lessons lately but don't know anyone that plays in Sheffield and don't fancy playing on my own.
  24. hey malkin, i can't pm you as i don't have a high enough pm count. I am going training this week with a team but let me know.
