  1. Think you might be disappointed !! We went two or three years ago and found it to be a dump.....sorry!!
  2. have a look at http://www.apostrophe.fsnet.co.uk/examples.htm hehehehehehe enjoy !
  3. If you have a double glazing company nearby, the spacer bar in the glazing units is filled with silica gel, they might sell you some ! It won't be in nice little satchets though I'm afraid. Shiesh is encouraging you to get your collar felt !! Tararabit
  4. Hi Dave Sorry about being part of spelling police ! it is an affliction but it stems back to school, didn't get the broadest education in the world but what we did get was fairly good and knuckle rapping for poor spelling was pretty effective too !!. Also Mr Elam was, I always found, a real gentleman and I had the highest regard for him and his wife who was just as nice. I forgot all about Howards shop, yes he did move onto the Birley Spa Lane shops and then back to Main Street again. It was an Alladins cave wasn't it? Fantastic place, can you still smell it ? All the old bike shops had a distictive smell, rubber and adhesives, paraffin & etc. Probably be drummed out of existance today by the Health and Safety loonies !! he he he he
  5. They are alive and kicking and living in Dronfield.
  6. Oooooer sorry then, apology due on point 1 it seems, sorry It's just all the previous postings really sounded (to me) as if you were speaking for the council. If that's not the case and I am wrong I do not object to offering a sincere apology. Time will tell on point 2 though, I'll reserve judgement and look forward to hearing from the poor drivers who have no alternative but to drive there. Could you perhaps offer (lets say) half a dozen examples (from the inumerable occasions) of the "traffic melting away" concept ( from Sheffield roads ) to help me try to dispell this apparently false image it seems I may have developed over the years. I don't mind being proved wrong but I need a little more than "you are mistaken on two points" ! I have to say I don't actually know anyone whose job title is Traffic Engineer to ask their opinion but 42 years driving makes me feel slightly dubious about the following description from'tinternet:- Quote Transport engineering (alternatively transportation engineering) aims to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods (transport). Mmmmmmmm................. Aims to ................................ but does it?
  7. Quote :- If you send the wrong man to jail for life you can let him out. Bet thats very comforting if you have done 20 years inside (with everything that goes with it) then they decide to let you out!! " Sorry we made a mistake " Re the side question at hand, I'd string him up without a second thought if I was sure there was no mistake, and yes I know I'm not very PC about it but hey "TOUGH" ....................................
  8. Oh I don't know..............it's a pretty sight seeing em get their come-uppance he he he
  9. Bin here for 58 years but moving to California in just over a week. Mind you I fully expect to be back in just over two weeks!! unfortunately
  10. Howard was a great friend to lots of us kids in the fifties and sixties, I had all my electric trains from him ( still have most of em !! ) It was Elams btw.
  11. Years ago I decided I had had enough of Sheffield Council's policy of making life as difficult as possible for the private motorist on every possible occassion and voted with my feet, well removal van actually, and bug***red of to live in Dronfield. (good riddance you might say and fairenoughski if you do) but I now reap the benefits whilst having a just a tiny bit of sympathy for my ex-travellers. I now work in a little place about five or six miles away and am unlucky if I see more than about five cars on my route in the morning and about 10 during the "rush-hour" home. Sorry guys couldn't resist after reading such a load of twaddle (again) from the council ( the traffic queues just melt away after a day or so !!!! WHAT ?? ) they really do think we are complete idiots don't they?
  12. FAN-bloomin=TASTIC There's some in Cambridge !
