  2. I go a chip on my windscreen today presumably from a stone as I was driving. It is really small, around the size of a 5p piece. I have looked at the prices come companies charge to fix them and its really expensive. I only have 3rd party fire & theft insurance so cannot get it free. Have any of you used one of the many repair kits you can buy online? and if so has it worked well for you? would you recommencd any kits in particular? Thanks
  3. Thanks for the replies!. I will try and get a couple of pictures later on and upload them.
  4. Hi all, My mum has some lead crystal glasses which she got as a wedding gift 30 years ago. They are still in the box and have never been removed. She is curious as to whether they could be worth something but we don't have a clue where to go to find out Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Rikki
  5. Bloody hell! nice effort mate! - I think I might be asking you for tips in future!
  6. How much did that return then mate?
  7. Yes that may be it BettyBooHoo! - I could kind of get on with it if they acknowledged it in some way e.g quick flash of the hazards to say sorry, Hand up in the mirror or out of the window but when they swear at you and make out like your in the wrong thats the bit I hate!
  8. I'm running the Bupa Great Yorkshire run on 09.10.2011 in aid of Fibromyalgia UK. I have set up a sponsor page at http://www.justgiving.co.uk/Rikki-Renshaw1 On there is a short story as to why I'm doing it for this charity. Between now and then I will be aiming to raise as much as possible for this great cause and would be so greatful if any of you guys could give anything at all even if just £1 as it all adds up!. Thanks everyone Rikki
  9. Just a note to all you people out there who don't understand the indicating process... When wishing to change lanes you should INDICATE FIRST and then pull across when safe do so. Indicators are not to be used AFTER you have already started moving across lanes and cutting someone up! I don't know about anyone else but this seems to be happening more and more frequently to me and then when I beep my horn I get sworn at as if I'm in the wrong. Pathetic!....Rant over!
  10. I leave a gap to pull out but not 2 metres like a lot do. I also park right up to yellow lines to leave more space for cars behind/in front of me. It gets annoying when I pass these spaces and end up having to park a further mile away!.
  11. Now I know like myself there are many people who park on side streets and walk/ride/get a bus to walk (In my case this is due to there being no car park where I work so I park around 10 mins away and walk down). Now my question is...Why do people who park on side streets leave huge gaps between there car and the one in front?. If your parking near double yellow lines, would it hurt to park right up to the yellow lines? therefore allowing someone else to park behind you?. Every day ars that have parked and not considered the fact that if they moved forward/backwards another metre then another car could fit in front/behind. Does this annoy anyone else? or is it just me?
  12. Does anyone know what the rough cost would be to get someone to do this job? - For someone with the right tools it doesn't sound like too much trouble?.
  13. There is a privet seperating my mums drive and the next door neighbours drive. They have agreed they would be happy to have the privet removed as it would create another car parking space which I could use . Now what is the best way to remove the privet? Do I need any kind of permission? Can I just chop it down or do I need to dig it out? If so how far down can the roots go? Sorry for all the questions, I've never removed a privet before. All advice welcome. Thanks Rikki
  14. Cracking post droplink! - Not only did you make their day but now you've made mine too! - So nice to hear that there are still some decent people in this world!!
  15. My sister has offered to have the little un for a weekend so me and my fiancee can go away for a couple days (How thoughtful). Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on where to go? Doesn't have to be close, We even considered France maybe?. We don't have a budget as such but obviously the cheaper the better... Looking to go in July would like somewhere to relax but also plenty to see and plenty to do at night would be good ...So any ideas guys? Rikki
  16. Hi, the place i advertised has now been sold. Thanks
  17. Hi all, My brother is selling his half marathon place for the full cost of entry due to breaking a bone in his foot!. If you are interested in the place then PM me. Although myself and my brother are not sure how to transfer the place into another name so if you know how to do this please also confirm in the PM. Thanks
  18. Some great suggestions coming through but considering my busget is around 5k, I doubt the Kia is affordable! and as I'm only 21 anything over a 2 litre engine could send my insurance up quite a lot....I'm liking the sound of the Focus/Golf/A3 so far....Golf's seem quite highly rated all over the internet...
  19. Thanks for the response, Cyclone I have been looking at A3's and Golf's - And would be able to possibly get a decent one for £5k so they are definately an option for me - Just thought I'd check see if there are any other suggestions - Lets see what the majority go for
  20. come on then guys - I've asked for your kind advice in the past and it paid off so now i'm asking again.... My fiancee is prgnant - So I'm going to be upgrading my car as we already have a little girl. I'm going to be looking for something which has the following.... 5 Doors! Spacious enough for 4 people - Doesn't have to be as big as a Vectra/Mondeo Economic - I drive on average around 250 miles per week so want something that would give me around 40MPG+ Comfortable and Smooth - The roads in Sheffield are awful and I don't want to be reminded with a rocky ride every time i drove over a crack or small hole. Safe - I want something that isn't going to break every other week. something strong and reliable Finally I'm only 21 and will spend a lot of time on my own in the car (to and from work) and i want something that looks good! - So no people carriers (no offence to anyone that drives one but I'm not very fond! I'm looking to spend around £4000-£5000 Now come on guys......DISCUSS!!! Thanks in advance....Rikki
  21. My plan was to save save save and wasn't planning on buying till May next year but I've seen this house and it has potential and would be perfect. Is there no other way around it?. What about If I got a credit card, applied for the mortage and when asked where the money is coming from I could just say my parents were giving it to me? would that work? - I could then pay off the credit card while in the interest free period and if not able to pay it all off by the end I could transfer the balance over to another credit card. This seems like a fool proof way of getting around it but I'm sure there is a problem. P.S i have around £1300 saved to help with the fees
  22. If I was to take out a loan for say £3,000. over 3 years and was paying back around £100 per month. Would this mess up my chances of getting approved for a mortgage? after my last post about getting an £90k house on my 16k earnings i have shopped around and may have found something ideal and for only 65k which is achievable on my 16k earnings (this has been confirmed by a mortgage broker). now with the previous house the seller was going to put up the deposit for me whereas I don't have that option with this one. If I got a loan for the deposit would I instantly be rejected the mortgage? - Even with the loan payment my monthly outgoings would only be around £200 so would have enough to cover the mrotgage costs considering I'm 21 so could take the mortgage over the maximum term. I'm presuming this is a long shot otherwise surely everyone would do this? My credit rating is very good and I've never missed a payment on anything. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  23. Yes i would have around £1,500 to cover fees as well as the £5k deposit. Yorkshire bank have pretty much said No as its too high - going to call the guy mentioned on this thread later today and see whats said. I always thought the biggest hurdle was getting the deposit which I have managed to get but now i need to earn more to get the mortgage. i know i could definately afford it on the wage I'm currently earning. I thought the bank would have looked at my outgoings and savings etc before making a decision. If they said i could afford a £50,000 house over 20 years then why cant i have a £80,000 house over 40 years? - sooooo confusing!
  24. Spoke to the bank this afternoon - did admit it could be a long shot but wouldn't be able to say for definate until i applied. And also mentioned that as I'm only 21 i can definately go for the 40 year term which would bring down the payments and then they can look at that as well as my outgoings. I'm going to make an appointment within the next couple of weeks i think. Thanks for the replies so far, any more advice welcome.
  25. So short answer is no basically?. I know a can afford the repayments though - The house is a bargain and really want it - I have a £5k deposit which shows i have the ability to save and have a really good credit history....Absolutely gutted now!
